Just did my 1st oil change when the IOLM called for it. 8700 miles. Oil wasn't Green, didn't look that bad and had zero fuel smell. Penzoil Platinum and SuperTech 20,000 mile filter. Next change when the IOLM calls for it.

"Ford only wants the engine to last until the warranty is up" LOL Where are all of the failing EcoBoost turbos?

I have read that it is a good idea to get the first oil change done at 1,000 to 2,000 miles. This gets the break in oil out and removes any metal shavings that might be in there. After that most say every 5,000 miles is best for the 2.0 turbo engine.

I have a 24 XLT ECOBOOST I was wondering when to do oil change dealer says 5k but ford pass is saying like 10k I did my first one at 5k now I’m hitting 10k and my ford pass is saying I got a little over 5k to go and at 62% oil life looking for recommendations so I don’t blow my warranty. tia
Easy simple rule I have followed my whole life: the color of oil starts getting darker and does not look like that honey blonde color. it is time for an oil change regardless of miles. I have a 22 maverick eco-boost that is exactly 2 years old and I have changed the oil twice with 11,000 miles on the clock. Just so happens that oil changes were approximately between 3000 and 4000 miles each. Built-in oil minder algorithm in the car is probably a good one to use if you want someone to nag you to do it but you should definitely change your oil frequently above all else!

Oil in diesels and DI gas engine turns black very quickly. Has nothing to do with the oil needing to be changed.

I do mine every 4k with a full synthetic. I also let my engine cool down, or rather my turbo at idle for at least a couple of minutes after highway driving and for 30 secs to a minute for around town driving. You should never come off the highway and just park and shut your engine off. The turbo gets hot at high rpms and when you just shut it off without a low idle cool down, your oil at the hot turbo turbine just cooks.
