Recently did my first oil change and figured it would make a good installment in my ongoing series. I think the evidence makes a good case for changing oil in the 2.0 EB well in advance of the factory-recommended 7,500-mile intervals. As has been said a million times -- oil is (relatively) cheap. Engines aren't.

I also really encourage you to watch the videos I mention/link within my video. That Ford technician showing the blown 3.5 EB engine is pretty informative...

Just had my first oil change done at the dealership (free) at 2400 miles. For whatever reason the sticker they put on says next oil change at 7400 miles, even though the service advisor told me it’s a 10k interval. I’ll be doing it myself at every 5k from here on out.

I just drop my oil a few days ago on my Tremor. With a little over 4K miles. I will extend the miles just a little further as the miles accumulate as a rule of thumb I usually change my oil on all my vehicles three times a year despite mileage between changes. The word here is usually Lol. My Dodge Magnum has accumulated two hundred 30 K. My Monte SS 300K Monte's long gone. 😊

Oil gets dirty. Even more so with low tension rings. and direct injection suit. Yet you will get screamed at on this and any other forum. Your giving away money to oil companies. Yet they never pulled an engine apart in there life and seen oil caked up from long oil changes. .

As I said in my video, the difference in changing oil at 5,000 miles vs. 7,500 miles is ONE EXTRA OIL CHANGE PER YEAR, assuming you drive 15,000 miles annually.

That means basically the price of an extra tank of gas to protect the longevity of my engine and turbo. A very small investment for a great return, IMO.

The manual says to change oil at 5000 miles.

Tim, not sure where you are getting that. I have a 2022, and pages 439-440 of the manual says oil change interval is 7,500-10,000 miles under "normal" driving conditions and 5,000-7,500 miles under "severe" driving conditions. For "extreme" driving conditions (most people will not subject the truck to this), it is 3,000-5,000 miles.

There's also a footnote that says hybrid vehicles may go even longer between oil changes! It also says that these are the mileage ranges during which you should "expect" the on-board vehicle monitor to remind you it is time to change the oil.

I have included a screenshot for your reference.

Bottom line: DO NOT run your 2.0 EB engine 7,500-10,000 miles between oil changes and DO NOT just rely on the dash display to tell you when to change the oil unless you plan to sell when the factory warranty is up. Otherwise, change your oil roughly every 5,000 miles with a high-quality, 100% synthetic oil and high-quality filter.

If you watched the video OP has a link too he said. Manufacturer only cares about 3 year 36K miles. after that your on you own. BUT as i expected there will be HUGE pushback from people never involved in the industry taking apart engines to see what REALLY happens with long oil changes. If you saw linked video in it he showed this filter on turbos clogs with 7K oil changes. . But hey Ford said so, lol.
