I'm having a relationship with our '23 XLT. This morning, while I'm in the living room having coffee, it sent a message to my cell phone. It said one of our tires was seriously low on air. Right. I went out and looked and it all looked ok. Then I had to move the truck from one side to the street to the other. In the instrument panel is showed a top view of the truck with the air pressure in all the tires. 34 in three and 21 in the left rear. So I drove to our nearby regular tire store and sure enough there was a wood screw in the left rear tire, a short distance from the tread.

This is the sort of experience you have when you buy a new car every 25 years or so.

The sad aspect is that I am gradually coming to the opinion that the truck is smarter than I am.

There are many, many things smarter than I am. You get used to it, after awhile...

I would not say it's smarter. I will say technology continues to improve, which is good. Glad you took heed to the warning and took care of it.

If mine said I had 3 tires at 34psi and one at 21psi, I would've lowered them all to 21psi and went back in the house.

See, that's thinking outside the box! ;)

Ours did that, we dropped it off in San Diego to be shipped to Maui. After a week it sent us that message when we were back home on Maui. When we picked it up 2 weeks later it still had 10lbs in it but I had an inflator under the rear seat. So I pumped it up, soaped the tire when I got home and found the screw and got an appointment for a plug. Coulda done it myself but they would do it better.

Cool that it lets ya know.

It didn't happen on my Maverick, but TPMS has twice prevented me from having complete flats in very dangerous & inconvenient places.

It's definitely a good use of technology.

I was driving down the road, and the other 3 just swoled up

Not only is your truck smarter, it's snitching on you to the government.

Just replaced my 1997 GMC Sonoma with 24 XL and am getting to know all of the new features. As to things that are smarter than me - I have a 17 year old daughter who knows more than me (so, she says)

Heck, I'm happy to be able to check the tire pressures on the dash regularly, rather than having to go around the truck with a hand held gauge.....I generally check mine at least weekly. My last vehicle was a '12 Outback with no such ability. It did light one time after being parked, but apparently due to the vehicle parked beside me, which must have had one with the same number or a frequency that interfered with reading my sensor. Thirty seconds after backing out of the space, the light went out.

Just beware some electronic devices, like Apple iPad or a cell phone charge/cable could interfere with a TPMS.
Ask me how I know.

Has anyone else noticed the TPMS reading to be about 4-5 lbs lower than actual?
