New Remote software updates

I got a second email from Ford this morning telling me to schedule updates thru the Ford Pass app. I wish they would stop sending these messages because I have a 2023 XLT and it is not available for me.

So, what are the odds the person checking the boxes for communication of the feature who is obviously getting it wrong, or was told wrong, or didn't read completely who was to be included - will also be involved in checking the boxes for the OTA updates?

It's at least good to hear the Mach-E has been doing the OTA's, so perhaps they just have someone new on the job in the communication team involved with the Mavericks.
Still concerning at some level.

Maybe this is why it seems only some are dealing with this confusion - they are doing a region, a subset of VINs, ect.

24 XLT - no emails and Ford has mine from my online account, nothing in Fordpass app and I've gotten notices there too regarding changes to points and recalls of course.

I believe starting in 2021 the F series trucks, the Mach-E, and one other model maybe the Escape came equipped with Sync4 so Ford has 4 years of OTA updates under their belt and it is still a mess.

@HeyBales I know for the Lightning and Mach-E Ford has an EAP or early access program for owners who want to join and be part of testing unreleased updates. These EAP participants then give feedback to Ford. This to help insure a software release is ready before sending it out en mass.

I do not know if Ford will do the same thing for the Maverick.

If you can't remotely disable, how buried in the truck settings is the disable?

Wasn't too bad on the pre-25MY's, but then again it could only use WiFi, so if disabled or not setup - not happening.

In the FordPass app there should be a way to disable automatic updates. On the Mach-E it is a slider tab. If Ford deems the update necessary the update will over ride this setting and install it anyway.

The risk of an update damaging your vehicle is very low. I honestly think you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than a OTA update bricking your vehicle but................and you knew this was coming. It can happen and has happened.

None - for those withOUT the slider
High - for those withOUT the slider who wants the slider.

I think the new remote update software option is only available to the 25 Mavericks at this time...

I just got the email about it today, and I have a '24.

With Fords history on the matter of updates/recall patches, I would let the pot simmer for a long time and let the bugs get worked out imo. Didn't work out well for a lot of the GM folks based on a google search:
