Hope there is no new issues coming with the Maverick software update. Well try it but I am gun shy of Fords software updates as our F350 went from 20 MPG to 12 MPG with fords software updates. Love the Maverick with the exception of the brake grabbing, it has become a family member.
They have to test these new software updates extensively before putting them out to make sure they don't do anything too funky. I believe it's just the software improvements on the slightly newer mavericks being passed along to the older trucks.

Took mine into the dealer last week for the brake update. Only had a a few real stopping jolts but I figured I had better get it done before the snow hits and that becomes a daily occurrence.

There is one street turn near my house that always made the regen/brake transition noticeable. Since the software update that corner no longer is an issue so it made a difference.

We are going to the dealer for the update. After 50 years writing software and many million lines of code behind me I know that even the best software tester can miss things. Ford does not have the best track record with their software work so I hope we come out better and not worse.

My VIN says I am due for
23E09 and 23E07 and
23S27/23V380.

For all three it also says "Recall incomplete, remedy not yet available"

I haven't gotten notices by mail for some of these. I am in Northern Virginia.

Are you all just showing up to the dealer for the reprogramming ones? It seems like remedy is available based on comments here.

Yeah, we just got the software reprogrammed with the TSB's, so far, so good a few weeks in, noticably smoother in terms of the brakes, the shudder hasn't come back, and it would usually spark up in the cold. The recall for the fires isn't super serious, in terms of the amount of trucks actually impacted.

From my understanding, they're recalling about 130,000 hybrids, but of the 130,000, only 300 have this defect, and of those 300, only a fraction have actually had an incident. They're just gonna look at everyone's trucks to be sure, at least, that's what I've heard.

Would having a scan tool allow you guys to check what version you have?
It could, you could ask at the dealership. l'm almost certain that's how they'd be able to tell, but definitely check in with them first.

Need a rain test report to see if this really fixes the issue.
Had some rain, and some pretty cold temps in Utah these last few weeks, down to the high 20s at times. So far, so good. I'd say the brakes are still a little touchy in the rain, but much smoother than they used to be. The best way to describe it is the brakes when it's wet and cold feel similar to how the brakes felt when it was warm and dry prior to getting the TSB done, smooth, with rare occasions of low speed sensitivity. Definitely an improvement overall my friend. I'll report back once the snow starts to hit to let you know if anything changes going into winter.

I wasn't worried about it, they just did it. I have not had any previous TSBs installed. Ford just combined a bunch of updates into one, which saves you time, especially with some of the stubborn service advisers. I swear each one gives me a different story when I book an appointment, or visit the dealership.

How long did they have your truck? And does your paperwork say how much time the Tech took to perform the recall?
I dropped mine off Thursday @ 8am after making appointment approx 2 weeks prior to then. I called them that night @4pm. They needed the truck another day. 3 pm on Friday I had to call again. They needed to keep the truck till Tuesday.
I needed the truck for the weekend so I picked it up. Service Advisor wrote" Customer refused to leave truck this visit for work or diagnostics".

I’m pretty fortunate that I don’t seem to have the grabby brakes problem EXCEPT first thing in the morning and when it’s wet. They don’t GRAB per sw, but they are very sensitive. I’m going to check to see if my truck needs the update, but it sounds like I’m in line with post-update braking.

Is there a way to check to see if my vehicles needs any updates, or is that only something the dealership can do?

Thanks! That is what I am doing. I know dealerships don't like warranty work due to the slow payment from FORD. I hope another dealership will be understanding and help me with this.

The grabby brake issue is not chattering. It's a jarring sudden stop while driving slow, typically in stop and go traffic, in parking lots and such - all under 10-15MPH, that occurs no matter how gentle you are with the peddle. Chattering is usually a sign that the rotors are warped or rusty.
Try not to feather the brake peddle if you have foot on peddle with light pressure after several seconds the algorithm will compute that you want to stop and does it. Should happen just after Regen braking ends and is turned off (at about 3mph??). If you are touching brake peddle at all you should be activity stopping not just "getting ready to stop".

Many years ago I had a program that I was getting ready to declare that it was bug free but after running flawlessly for 4 years and three months a data card had three errors and data verification routine failed to reject.

It's not like the Maverick is my first vehicle or something, nor is it my first hybrid. I know how to drive, but thanks for the umm tips. :ROFLMAO:
