I can see it being a competitor to the Civic, RAV4, and CRV, so it's clearly some competition for the Maverick as that's it's top conquests. The price is great, but I think the gas mileage is where it falls short for most Maverick people.

Most EB buyers are probably committed to the truck side more, so they aren't potential conquests. Hybrid buyers are probably more likely to be the ones the Maverick is drawing in, and I think the 30 mpg is a let down. If the tech is great, and they keep their price down, it'll probably get some converts. Especially if their $21.5k starting price holds for the 2024 production year and the Maverick's jumps another $2k.

Not bad except for the mpg. It would need to be higher for it to be an option for me. But price is lower than the Maverick. I could live without a trailer hitch and 4' bed but not with that mpg.
I have the Buick version. Over the last six years it's averaged in the thirties mpg. Has a hitch and takes a 4x8 trailer nicely. I'm still looking forward to my Maverick and the bed.

If I were gonna buy GM, I'd me far more likely to buy the full BEV Equinox entry trim for $30K-ish and take that $7,500 tax credit. No gas for the rest of my life, and we're a multi-car family in the event we need a long road trip (duh, Maverick).

Having said that, the entry price Equinox is probably a long way down the road. GM has already stated they're starting with the expensive trims for the first half year.

Turbo 1.2L 3-cylinder making 137hp as the only engine available? Yikes.

It’s also completely new. I would never, ever, ever buy a first year GM engine, let alone a completely novel design for them like a 3 cylinder.

That being said, this car looks cool and the value proposition is really solid. I hope it’s a good reliable car. And I’m saying that as someone who hates Chevy and their terrible interiors, jerky CVTs, boring designs, and shit resale value.

Some high school girl in the fast food line at new chicken joint labeled my blue truck as a blue CAR. So humiliating.
Don't feel bad, I get customers all the time I have to carry stuff to their 'car' as they call it & they haven't owned a car for 20 years, it's always a suv or truck, I've even found myself to slip up & say car, cause that's all I had for the last 40 years. I still occasionally still turn on the wipers trying to shift out of park.

Unibody front wheel drive is bad enough and then you post a minivan? Come on. Might as well post a Yugo and call it comparable???
