Well hell, how am I going to get to 800 miles a tank. Yes, fuel can foam when entering your tank, and diesel is much more prone to it than regular gasoline. Fast pumping speeds, turbulence, and additives can whip air into the liquid, creating bubbles.

The justifications will soon start.

I will never understand the people that will click the pump ten freaking times for a spit of gas.
It goes back to the time when you paid for gas in cash to a station attendant , the idea was to get to the nearest dollar, rather than dealing with change. Some people cannot break the habit.

There are rare cases that I'll continue. For instance, if I was under 1/4 of a tank, and it shuts off after 2 gallons. But I hate these pumps that day because how do I know when to actually turn off other than rough guess?

Otherwise, for years now I'll just stop. With credit cards no need to round to even dollar to avoid change.

I always go 6 more clicks. I don't want to have to stop for gas 68 seconds sooner on a long drive. That is valuable time on the road so need every foot per tank I can get. Just joshing (not slooshing) folks. First click unless as @kevink says I know it should take 8 to 10 gallons and clicks off after 2. Years ago I was at a pump that obviously had a defective nozzle because it clicked off every 5 seconds or so. I gave up, closed the transaction and went to another pump which worked fine.

Filled tank before returning a rental car last week and had to swing around the parking lot to pump gas again. Sometimes it kicks off early and in the case of a rental, it’s a costly error. I constantly rent for travel and found it’s not usually the pump… but the model of vehicle that causes early/late click-offs.
My brother has a ‘53 Ford that overflowed all the time. He recently found a shop that “fixed it”.

Obviously none of you live in Jersey.
We don't pump our own.
If paying cash, they round up to the next dollar.
lol... why some people choose to live where they do is beyond me....🤠
