A lot of the Sheetz around here have E85 which is usually around 30 cents cheaper per gallon than regular unleaded. That's my go-to.
I hope you're not putting E85 in your Maverick.

Need a flex-fuel rated vehicle for that. Might not save any money either, as ethanol has less energy density than gasoline.

Oops! Meant e15, not E85 flex fuel. E15 can go in anything modern.

Sheetz actually has both and they put the nozzles right next to each other. Always worried I'm gonna grab the wrong one.

As for fuel economy, the research I've seen suggests e15 is only a couple percentage points worse than regular unleaded (which is still up to 10% ethanol). Definitely worth the tradeoff when it's 30-40 cents cheaper per gallon

I live on the Colorado/Kansas state line. Gas is almost always 10% cheaper across the line into Kansas. It's usually not out of the way.

Costco and Sams (only because I snagged the post-super bowl membership for $8) here in Minnesota are very competitive with premium; since both my Maverick and Fiat Abarth take Premium, I go to one of those locations for gas consistently. Typically premium is the same price as regular everywhere else.

Save $ on gas?
People in Connecticut have reintroduced the old hobby of stealing gas; from sticking hoses directly into station tanks, siphoning from vehicles unlocked filler doors, to drilling holes in vehicles tanks. Sad but true.

I have gasbuddy and you can save 5 to 25 cents a gallon, plus it tells you where the cheapest gas prices are near you. It's pretty good. I also have getupside app but there are no gas deals close to me, so really doesn't help.

I have multiple credit cards that have cyclical categories: Chase Unlimited and Discover It Both have gas at 5 percent cash back a quarter every year. That is 20 cents back per gallon at $4.

I also have the Verizon credit card for yearly gas cash back. 4 percent on gas stations and grocery stores.

The Ford credit card does 3 percent in points at gas stations. Not great as you only get 1.5 percent cash value back. But it gives a $200 statement credit yearly if you get to the $6,000 annual spend requirement.

I play this game to get coupons for Circle K. Usually free drinks, chips, or 15-25 cents off a gallon.
That’s a great thing about that GetUpside… you can use those to pay and double dip it

Use my GetUpside code NBVXE wink wink lol

That seems like a great deal I’m going to have to look into it since you’re the second person mentioning it! Thank you!

I use my AMEX Blue Cash Preferred card for fuel purchases and groceries. Pay it off every month with the cash I have in my budget for fuel and groceries. AMEX Blue Cash Preferred gives 3% back on purchases at gas stations and 6% at supermarkets.

3% at $4/gallon is 12 cents off every gallon. Stack that with grocery rewards like Fred Meyer or Safeway (which will give me between 10 cents and 30 cents a gallon based on my typical purchases), I do pretty nicely.

I am putting on about 2,000 miles per month. Savings about $21/month. $250/year.

Yep, my Sport Trac is Flex Fuel. Never put e85 in it. It's barely any cheaper and gets significantly less mpg's.

I get gas at the grocery store. Always get $1 off per gallon with points.
I likewise do this. To make sure I get the fuel points I need for the $1 off per gallon, I like to buy restaurant gift cards with 2-4 times fuel points. My wife and I go out to eat 1-2 times per week and we use the gift cards to pay for our meals. We also get gift cards for the grandkids for their birthdays and special occasions. So while many are in long lines at Costco/Sam's Club getting their 25 cent cheaper fuel, I just pull right up into my local grocery store fuel station, no wait, to get my 80 cents to $1 off per gallon fuel. However . . . when traveling out of the area, I usually join the Costco wait in line group for the 25 cent cheaper fuel. I eat out with or without a gift card and I send gift cards to family and friends for special occasions anyway, so why not get the fuel points!

Great idea! I might try getting those. Where do you normally buy those? Forgive my ignorance, I have never bought any.

Smith's grocery store is where I shop and get the gift cards and fuel. Other stores also do similar things. My friend shops at Albertson's and said they offer a similar program but fuel points are only good at a particular gas station. Albertson's (at least in my area) do not have their own gas stations. Smith's however have their own fuel stations and their prices are usually among the lowest compared to other stations. True this nation is mighty big and Smith's is not in every state. If you don't have Smith's or Albertson's look around and see if any stores in your area offer similar programs. Good luck.

Thanks, I don’t have either of those stores around. I was hoping my monthly trips to Costco might be a place to buy restaurant gift cards but I’m assuming they are designated gift cards vs generic?
