Can't speak about modifications voiding warranty. Of the 30+ vehicles I've owned the only warranty I've used have been; 1. Hybrid battery replacement on 2004 Prius after 90,000 miles. 2. Rack-and-pinion unit in 1992 Dodge Dakota at 58,000 (the only extended warranty I ever bought).

You think gas is high. Check out Diesel in California. It has now become cheaper to drive the hybrid and rent a room then use the 250 to tow the camper.
