Hello Maverick community, I was wondering if someone could please give me some quick info on lug nut replacement requirements. For some reason I’m seeing a lot of conflicting info so just wondering if I can get some help please. I have a 2024 maverick 2.0L with the 4k tow package and want to replace the not so great lug nuts it comes with stock and the tires from 235s to 245s. What is the exact lug nut I will need and will it work with my spare kit if I were to need to replace a tire? Last what is the torque I will need to set it to? Does it change with different aftermarket lug nuts or just do what the factory spec is? Sorry for being a pain in the ass I just don’t want my wheel flying off because I think I know what I’m doing. Thanks

The short answer from what I've read: the size is 14x1.5 mm, and the torque is 150 ft-lb (very high, but common for Ford trucks). Here is an Amazon link I found for solid replacements. I have NOT yet tried them.

People seem to dislike the original lug nuts, although I am confused whether they are all alike (except for color) or different for the different wheels. The complaint, as I understand it, is they are "two piece" laminates which can corrode between layers and shed their shell, leaving you with a smaller nut and no wrench which fits it.

However, I am reluctant to replace mine (silver nuts for gray machined wheels with the 235/65 tires, new EB with FX/4 package) just yet. The torque spec is so high, any two-piece nut must be pretty tough to survive flat repairs and tire rotations through the warranty period. Are they really delaminating as people fear, or is this just old-school worrying? I have seen delamination on very old Chevy two-piece plastic-clad nuts, but they would never survive 150 ft-lbs.

Given all that, I'm waiting to see mine at the first tire rotation.

Not old school worrying. You can find out the hard way when you have a flat tire and find that the lug wrench no longer works with the nuts due to swelling. If you are lucky the tow truck will have a wrench that will fit them. Ask any Ford tech how good the lug nuts are. First tire rotation wise move is to replace them.

Not seen any claims of de-lamination on Mav lugs specifically, but that is probably because we have only seen 2-3 year old lugs on the Mav so far. Give it some time. Haha. They are the "2 piece" style, and will de-laminate eventually though. Which is why a lot of good shops have the "in-between/measured in .5 instead of 1 MM" sized sockets. Or they just sacrifice a smaller socket and hammer/weld it onto the lug to get it off.

Personally I torque mine to about 90. I have no desire to go to 150 or whatever crazy number is in the manual.

Short answer is that they are M14 x 1.5 lug nuts.

Any acorn style should work fine, as long as you are not trying to use crazy aftermarket wheels that have a deep and narrow slot for the lugs. Most brands sell what they call a "factory style" bulge or acorn.

Up to you...... How hard to do you want it to be to take a tire off without an impact wrench/driver? Or how long of a breaker bar are you willing to keep in your truck for use on the side of the road? 2 foot long breaker? 3 foot long?

The specs are something like 145-150 foot pounds. It can take that load since the studs are M14 instead of a smaller diameter M12.

Since I tighten with a regular old torque wrench (not an impact wrench/driver) I do more in the 80 to 90 range and things have not loosened at all over time.

Just get lugnuts for an F150 from the corner automotive store, since they are the same.

Another question. I see statements like this on lug nuts.
Ford Maverick Need lug nut info please 1721939787992-7s

It's hard for me to believe 100% of factory wheels have one type of seat and 100% of aftermarket have another. Why don't they just give the seat diameter the nuts are designed for?

I picked up some Bronco Sport wheels, which type of seat do they have?
