There would still be cables connecting to the battery.
Sure but it would probably be a much simpler setup.

A soldered on terminal end isn't exactly high engineering. Point being this could just as easily have been a fault shared by the other or both powertrains.

There is a good chance that they won't like it when the customer knows more about the vehicle than they do.
I mean, it's job to know, but there's a lot of 9 to 5 type employees that couldn't care less.
I took my hybrid Xl in for the recall,at the same time I told them to check the battery and mention the deep sleep issue.

I pick up the truck after the work was done and I get a piece of paper attached to the work order from Ford Canada stating that I have a 3rd party app on my phone that is causing the issue.

I have no 3rd party app on my phone and when I mention this to the people I picked up the truck from they all have never heard of deep sleep mode.

I have had my hybrid at the dealer 3 times recently due to deep sleep messages. The first time they tested the 12 volt battery and said that it was not charging completely. They asked me to bring it in after they talked to the Ford Hotline. When I took it back they did more testing that Ford recommended and said that it seemed to be testing okay. After that visit the "deep sleep" messages increased in frequency. The dealer had me bring it back and leave it for 2 days to see if they could replicate the messages, which they did. The dealer then reported that Ford had replied to their text that they wanted the dealer to do seven hours worth of "dismantling" and re-testing. The specifics of this "dismantling" were not given to me because the tech had gone home. The service advisor said the tech wanted to confirm verbally with Ford before proceeding with that extent of labor. I am now receiving the "deep sleep" message every time I drive the vehicle, regardless of the distance, about 30 minutes after the drive is completed. When I shared with the service advisor the "fixes" I had seen on this forum he said that they can only do what Ford tells them to do.

At no time during this process has the vehicle failed to start or presented any problem other than the messages. I now have about 3000 miles on the truck, which I am otherwise extremely happy with. I did purchase a jumper battery that I carry in case s... happens.

I wonder if there might be some below-nominal batches of 12v batteries. Mine was built a week before yours and tends to settle at little above 12-12.2v Even trying a BMS reset and increasing the charging target hasn't affected that. Last week charged the battery directly with two different AGM-capable smart chargers and it gets up to 14-ish volts in a few minutes wherein the charger declares it full, but off charge it then rapidly drops back down. Likewise "worst" I've had is it being slightly low enough the dash/interior lights didn't automatically come on when opening the door once. Otherwise just a handful of times where being in and out while off has eventually resulted in a 'remote features disabled' alert.

Edit: Looks like from the similar threads @Hdang1980 and @mikellmikell also were late February/early March builds that had low 12v battery issues without a cable end failure.

The newest answer to my dealer (El Cajon Ford) from Ford was to replace the battery and the battery management system. The dealer replaced the battery yesterday and the B.M.S. is due to arrive tomorrow. The truck has now been back and forth to the service department four times for this issue but fortunately they have an excellent shuttle driver.

me too, currently at the dealer, hoping for word this evening

update: just heard from the dealer, they will start with 12 volt battery replacement, (per what is implied is Ford's measured protocol for my case i.e. dozens of deep sleep messages after 3K miles on Hybrid XLT built ~4/8/22, one recognized instance of cab lights out, but always starting to date)

Exact same thing happening daily since September 25th!!! Hybrid Lariat built Feb 20th with 3600 miles.

I picked up my Maverick yesterday after they had replaced the battery management system. It's a mystery to me whether they actually replaced the 12v battery the day before or not. They told me they had but when I got the paperwork, only the B.M.S. was listed. This morning, after a short drive, I received the same "deep sleep mode" message right after parking the truck. Then 20 minutes later, during which time the truck had remained parked, I received the same message.

I am curious about whether your driving habits are like mine. Most of my trips are less than 10 miles round trip and there are one or two days per week that I don't drive the Maverick at all.

Since delivery, the majority of the trips have been in town (5 miles roundtrip) and it could sit 1-3 days not driven. 2-3 times each month did a 60 mile round trip. 700 mile trip in May. Never got DSM message. While on vacation, the vehicle was not driven for a 23 day period in June. The DSM message appeared after the first eight days vacation. It started right up after returning on day 23. August and September have been driving 60 mile (round trip) freeway trips a couple of times per week. Like we have done since delivery, did an in town <5mile trip 9/22. Vehicle not driven 9/23-24.
9/25 driven <5mile . DSM message received every start/stop event since then. 9/27 drove in Sport mode for about ten minutes to keep on ICE. Still got DSM message. Taking out tumor for 30 mile trip and will run on ICE to see if longer charge helps.

I did some more checking today while doing my inaugural oil change. At this point I'm leaning towards these 12V batteries seem to inherently suck. I have good voltage at the battery with the key on-- 13.4-14.5+V --so no worries about the engine harness end having poor contact. Charged the battery again with my shop charger; 6A had it topped up pretty quick. Put my battery tester on it and tested at 504CA. However after doing the oil change and engine plate recall modifications and dropping it back down the battery was already back down to 12.2V.

If it's any consolation it sounds like it's a common issue with the Escape Hybrids going back to the 2020 MY as well. They just install a bigger AGM (the stock is actually lead acid SLI) and seems to do okay.
