No different. The biggest difference is that it allows the truck to coast longer before the regenerative brakes kick in; it's a noticeable difference. One of the forum's regular posters created a long thread regarding their experiments with the different settings and slippery was the clear winner regarding fuel efficiency.

Do you guys feel like you get much better Mpg in Eco mode then normal mode? I feel like acceleration is slower but it still quick thanks!

Only if you are a lead foot, I just filled the tank and this is what I get all normal mode

Come on guys. Watch the gauges. Eco gives an easy 20% improvement in mileage, Compared to what I’m reading here. I’m on Eco constantly. 43.2 mpg total after 1600 miles nice new. Beats the heck out my wife’s Camry hybrid. Plenty of power. In town/rural driving of course. If you bust 55 mph everything changes.

This is the ecoboost engine forum, the OP has an ecoboost. Not at all relevant what's happening with your hybrid to be honest.

For an ecoboost, no change in mpg versus normal for highways. Very annoying to use in town and I don't do enough town miles to notice any gain.

So, no, for me eco mode is not beneficial, same thing others have observed.

The big advantage I see in Eco mode vs. Normal is in transmission behavior going down hills -

Normal likes to downshift when the truck is speeding up down the hill when I'm off the throttle. There's logic to that, but I really hate it - I have a lot of small ups and downs around me, so losing that speed down the hill means I have to apply throttle to make it up the other side.

Eco will hold the gear or even upshift as the truck picks up speed, much more efficient for much of my driving.

Of course, there are those times when I want to engine brake - there's no good way to do it manually (pushing "L" downshifts way too aggressively, sometimes two or even three gears. Trying to change the drive mode or setting cruise control to get it to just drop one gear takes too long to be practical). This engine would be great with a manual or at least paddle shifters, but sadly that's not an option...

Did a 900 mi trip last weekend (all interstate) in the Explorer ST using Eco.
First tank using BP gas; 28.5 mpg.
Second tank using Exxon gas: 25.4 mpg.
I usually get 25 mpg in normal mode.

In my experience, eco mode isn't significantly beneficial in the hybrid either. I tried it for a couple of whole tanks and my results were basically the same as normal mode...though I think a lot depends on ones driving habits. Could be it would do you some good if you have a naturally heavy foot.
In my case, I'm at 44.7 mpg over 8200 miles (dash readout), and except for those early experiments, I never touch eco mode. Or slippery for that matter...unless it's pouring rain.

Going slower helps mpg. If you push your foot harder in eco mode it won't help anything.

I very much doubt the gas itself was the primary factor in 3mpg difference. I bet it was wind strength & direction, terrain, traffic.

Last weekend I went to Des Moines on Saturday. My truck (in my profile pic) is an ecoboost awd 4k tow on stock 225-60/18 Michelin Primacy, and for this trip I had a factory soft tri-fold tonneau installed.

25.2 mpg about 380 miles traveling mostly northeast with the cruise mostly set at 80. Wind 10-15 mph out of the NW, so a cross headwind. Returned on Sunday traveling SW, wind was the same, 10-15 out of NW, but now it's a partial tailwind and I have the cruise set at 82 but I got 29.7 mpg. I always use 91 octane.
