This Maverick poses next to a spiritual predecessor - the 2000 Ranger.

I also see a similarity with the 1989 Ford F-150 in the Maverick front end. I used to hate that version of the F-150 but grew to like itā€™s boxiness. And you can pick this ā€˜89 up for about the price of a base Maverick. šŸ˜‚

Iā€™ve had 3 Rangers (1997 Reg cab 5 speed/ 2.3L , 1999 xLT Ext. cab 3.0/auto 4WD and my current 2010 2.3L/16v 5 speed auto reg cab) . What appealed to me about buying a Maverick is that it a spiritual successor to the Ranger. Itā€™s the perfect size for my needs

If the Mav had any other cab config I'd say yes. As it doesn't I'd have to say it's true ancestor is the Gen 1 Explorer Sport Trac.

I've had a 96 Ranger Regular Cab and an 04 Extended cab and currently have a 05 Sport Trac. Loved the Rangers for what they were, but for an every day driver for 2-3 people and 2 dogs, the Sport Trac wins hands down. So looking forward to the Mav.

No not bad at all after accounting for inflation from 1994 to today... the actual value of that $11,600 is ~$21k. Right in line with current Maverick baseline prices.

I think this is why the Maverick is so popular, larger trucks are simply too much $$$. A 28 year newer truck with double the power & torque AND over 25% increase in MPGs, now if they could only do that with full size trucks.

I had a '93 Ranger that I bought new. Had it for 26 until I replaced it with a 2019 Fusion which I am now replacing with my Maverick which is shipped and should be here in time for Christmas.
My sequence is: I had a '98 Ranger XLT SuperCab that I bought new. Had it for 16+ years until I replaced it with a 2015 Honda Fit Ex which I am now replacing with my Hybrid Maverick which is shipped and should be here in time for Christmas.

I bought new 2008 Mazda B2300 (Made on the same assembly line as the Ranger) pickup for less than $19,000 in 2009. It is basic, 2 door, A/C, and a radio. I am sill using it, waiting for my Maverick, and as near as I can see, its the same size.

I am looking forward to the club cab and the power windows/locks.

I actually purchased a 2003 Ranger as a weekend warrior vehicle for $1,900 earlier this year from my local department of transportation liquidation auction (At the time, I didnā€™t know anything about the Maverick). For being a 2003, the Ranger still only had 124,000 miles on it and runs like a champ after I put a new starter in it.
It seemed between house projects and some rental homes I have, I was always needing something to haul a stove or fridge or a load of OSB. I ordered my Mav last night and assumed Iā€™d sell my Ranger to put towards my sales tax but I really do love that little Ranger and still may keep it even though my daily driver will be the Mav. (That and my kids think the orange lights, flashers and back up beepers are hilarious)

My first truck was a '92 Ranger, 4 cylinders, RWD, extended cab, 6' bed, XLT trim. Could carry a load and was sporty to boot. A glance in the bed and you'd see that I used the truck like a truck. Had it twenty years, through 4 girlfriends (married the 4th one), several moves around the country for work, before the engine gave up the ghost. I'm so looking forward to getting a smaller truck again. Gonna sell my '01 GMC Sierra 4WD Craigslist special and a '05 VW when my order comes in. Hopefully by March, lol.

I always liked the ranger. I was bummed out when the current ranger came out and was a larger truck. Then came the Maverick and now I am patiently waiting. Glad ford wised up.

+1 on that. Iā€™m still driving my old SportTrac because I couldnā€™t find anything I liked better. The Ridgeline came close, but the poor quality from the plant was a concern. Also I thought the intrinsic smell from the trunk material showed a real lack of respect for the customer. That chemical smell is the trunk body outgassing and will last for years. It would have been the easiest thing to design in a vapor barrier or to use a different material. Very disappointing. Now Iā€™m looking forward to getting a 2023 hybrid Maverick.
