I also see a similarity with the 1989 Ford F-150 in the Maverick front end. I used to hate that version of the F-150 but grew to like itās boxiness. And you can pick this ā89 up for about the price of a base Maverick. This Maverick poses next to a spiritual predecessor - the 2000 Ranger.
Very NICE!! I image you will, but you should for sure hold on that little automotive gem!My Uncle bought new in 94 XL. I bought from his daughter after he passed away. 61,500 mi. drives and runs great. Crank down windows and only button on steering wheel is horn.
I think this is why the Maverick is so popular, larger trucks are simply too much $$$. A 28 year newer truck with double the power & torque AND over 25% increase in MPGs, now if they could only do that with full size trucks. No not bad at all after accounting for inflation from 1994 to today... the actual value of that $11,600 is ~$21k. Right in line with current Maverick baseline prices.
My sequence is: I had a '98 Ranger XLT SuperCab that I bought new. Had it for 16+ years until I replaced it with a 2015 Honda Fit Ex which I am now replacing with my Hybrid Maverick which is shipped and should be here in time for Christmas.I had a '93 Ranger that I bought new. Had it for 26 until I replaced it with a 2019 Fusion which I am now replacing with my Maverick which is shipped and should be here in time for Christmas.
+1 on that. Iām still driving my old SportTrac because I couldnāt find anything I liked better. The Ridgeline came close, but the poor quality from the plant was a concern. Also I thought the intrinsic smell from the trunk material showed a real lack of respect for the customer. That chemical smell is the trunk body outgassing and will last for years. It would have been the easiest thing to design in a vapor barrier or to use a different material. Very disappointing. Now Iām looking forward to getting a 2023 hybrid Maverick. If the Mav had any other cab config I'd say yes. As it doesn't I'd have to say it's true ancestor is the Gen 1 Explorer Sport Trac.
I've had a 96 Ranger Regular Cab and an 04 Extended cab and currently have a 05 Sport Trac. Loved the Rangers for what they were, but for an every day driver for 2-3 people and 2 dogs, the Sport Trac wins hands down. So looking forward to the Mav.
Now that's a real truck. My Uncle bought new in 94 XL. I bought from his daughter after he passed away. 61,500 mi. drives and runs great. Crank down windows and only button on steering wheel is horn.
