After a year I’m still enjoying my Ridgeline. Made a few mods, made a few trips.
Bed depth mod. Used 2x4s, but will change for 80/20 aluminum extrusions if I like the mod. Tonneau is diamondplate chromed Lomax model.
Trying out bed tent in the Davis Mountains in Texas last December...
More like $39.8k not counting taxes and fees and taking into account the $2200 gain from the 0.9% financing, assuming one has the cash to invest, but I hear you. The price is actually not that bad compared to a loaded Lariat hybrid, which was my favored model. Only around 50% city mpg, but...
This model is made in Alabama. Honda America division is widely seen as resting on past success. They come somewhere in the middle of the pack on quality in recent years. They are just not what they used to be. I spent about 2 hours inspecting pre-sales, checking for common problems, including...
I loved the Maverick hybrid power train and am disappointed that I could not buy one of these new trucks. I just could not wait any more. I know I'll regret the better mpg on the Maverick, but the Ridgeline is nice and I got a good deal. It almost felt like pre-pandemic shopping with vehicles on...
I agree with your sentiment. It would be interesting to see the parasitic current draw that happens when the vehicle is turned off. It seems a reasonable hypothesis that this parasitic current draw is the source of many of the non-start and battery failure issues. If you are not sure how to make...
Interesting article, thanks for linking. Seems to me one of the biggest changes in development was to kick the managers out of the room and only allow them limited access and ability to interfere with the design and engineering teams. I can believe that would speed development.
Thanks Red Ryder. I had not thought of the scheduled start feature and had also not considered the FordPass system as granting control authority of a household poison gas generator to the internet. The point is worth some study.
After reading the recent thread on the benefits of FordPass I wondered what Ford gets out of the deal. No company pays customers $200 without expecting to make it back plus profit. I’d like to better understand exactly what I am selling that could be worth that much.
Searching the forums I...
The link above to NHTSA shows the Maverick Hybrid 2022 is selected for 5-star crash testing. I trust big companies like Ronald Regan trusted Russia. His motto was “Trust but Verify”. Aged-challenged members might not have been around to hear this one.
A good test for impact on the radar functionality would be to see if the cruise control still follows other vehicles OK. Following at maximum and minimum distances are the acid tests. If your mod interferes enough to matter, this is where it will show up.
Water is tough on radar, so if the...
+1 on that. I’m still driving my old SportTrac because I couldn’t find anything I liked better. The Ridgeline came close, but the poor quality from the plant was a concern. Also I thought the intrinsic smell from the trunk material showed a real lack of respect for the customer. That chemical...
I think this is a valid concern and a good question. The hybrid is purpose-designed to draw peak power demands from the battery, allowing for an ICE tuned for high efficiency at the cost of lower ICE power. The battery can supply power for only a limited amount of time, the biggest usual demand...
My ride identifies as Mr. Peabody, the cartoon dog. So it is definitely a kid's truck. I liked the calm competence and practical thinking of Mr. Peabody. I'm not sure he would have found as much success as a female - too many gender prejudices exist, especially back then.
I have owned my 2002 ST for 18 years and still like it. I won't miss the higher roll-over risk though, so I'm glad the Maverick appears to have a lower center of gravity. I will miss the industrial-sized door guards on the ST. I wonder what the doors on the Maverick will look like in 10 years.
