This is why the Maverick should have been the Ranger and the F150 sized Ranger be called the F100. Now I want to see a Tremor next to a 1st gen Sport Trac.
This is so obvious in hindsight. I bet Ford would've done this if they knew then what they know now. Love the old f100s.

Just got my Maverick a few hours ago. Side by side comparison with my 2008 Ranger.

Congrats on the new ride. It looks great next to that ranger. Now you've got two awesome trucks :)

The F100s really were the first non-work truck model in popularity. The only other thing I can think of is if you compare a 4 door 70s Maverick to the truck. Alot of similarities pop up. Unibody, family sized, economic, lower model line but not the exactly the bottom.

The Maverick is a good fit for me now that I'm pushing 60. Shorter bed, but I won't be hauling as much. Used the Ranger for garden dirt, trash, new furniture, and moving a few times.
Finally! At least you needed a vehicle. You had a 2008 with 260k. Many in this "club" did not actually need it. I have a 2006 with 209k here myself. We waited behind a bunch or youtubers and bandwagoners with late model cars in their garage. Congrats and good to hear from you.

This is rich. So if you didn't have more than 200,000 miles on your old truck (my 06 Escalade has 234,000 and is need of multiple repairs), or if you use social media to share your Maverick experiences, you don't need a Maverick?

I think when you say need you really mean deserve. And that's a pretty slippery slope IMO.

As many in this forum have said before, I'm not sure anyone NEEDS a Maverick. Lots of us want them and there's no one but Ford to blame for those who do want them not having them.

Pointing fingers at others who received orders ahead of you is pointless and unproductive.

Well you're darn tootin' I think I deserved to go ahead of "Road and Track" and Youtube Charlie. Ford must have looked me up and seen the 815 credit rating. Reasonable build too.

Yes I would rather hear from regular people like myself that needed it, rather than a guy with a new Ram TRX in the driveway. I've heard plenty from the needy build Lariat whiners. Let them wait. What's it to you anyhow, haha...

Great pics, thanks for sharing. I drove an '01 Ranger in high school and have missed having a small truck. I just wish the Maverick came in something closer to Toreador Red!

Now that I have one, I see LOTS of (older) trucks that are smaller than the Maverick.

@johnpbrewer - took you long enough! 😄

I'm sure I'll see you around...you've probably seen me at some point!

Actually, I've probably already seen you I think - been seeing a few more Mavericks lately. Have you seen the Orange Mav with the matching bed cap around town?

Also, enjoy the construction downtown there!

I have yet to see it, but I will keep my eyes peeled.

Nice comparison.

I had a 1990 Ford Ranger XLT club cab 4x4 with the 4.0.
Really a good truck at the time. Auto locking hubs and push button 4WD was quite an advancement over the decades old systems.

Swapped out the bench seat(!) for a couple Recaro clones, added a Tuffy console, bought some cool looking wheels for summer tires and used the stock ones for winter studs. (I lived in Alaska at the time, lots of ice on the roads during the winter)

Although the 4.0 V6 was a strong motor I added a K&N filter charger and put a performance chip in the brains of the thing.
The tranny was an automatic 4 speed which was also advanced for the time.

The truck was much more sophisticated than the 60’s and 70’s trucks I had previously owned, smooth, quiet, quick and handled good for what it was.

TFLT did a comparison video with a 1990 Mazda 4.0, same truck, different badge, and a Maverick hybrid. Their 1990 was a 4 speed stick though so their 0-60 comparison was not fair or accurate.

With the 4 speed automatic that I had 0-60 came in 10 seconds in stock configuration. However, even with light foot driving my mpg was always 16/18. By the late 90’s even full size trucks were getting that. It got annoying enough that I sold it and got a more economical car.

The longer bed was nice but the lack of a door on the rear cab portion was aggravating after a while.

Although not AWD, the new Maverick hybrid is so far advanced over my old beloved Ranger. It almost feels like a sport/luxury automobile in comparison.
