I purchased a 2026 Ford Maverick XL 2.0 turbo on May 15th, 2026. On June 9th it went into the shop for the first time. It was in and out until June 29th when went in and NEVER came back out. Electrical issues. Ford has agreed to BUYBACK but gave me the middle finger when dealing with the stress, inconvenience and anger that I went through. Needless to say, I am DONE with FORD after 40 years of owning a Ford truck. This will be my last post on this site!!

Hmmmm? Never built tank but did have howitzers mounted on their trucks .
  • During World War II, Toyota manufactured standard transport trucks like the Toyota KB for the Japanese military, not combat tanks.
I think @Mudduck was referring to the older Toys as being more "Sturdy" built.

So he is upset Ford won't pay him for the stress he suffered? I don't think you read your warranty policy. Someday you will face real stress.

I get it. F150 holds the record for top sales since 1979. But new regulations as well as new technology have created new production parameters - some good some not so. Trump had to step in and force the automakers to quit trying to outlaw backyard mechanics so to respond to this (as I am able to determine) the automakers are no longer going to supply vehicles with ten years of parts. Since the automakers don't have to continue making parts for vehicles ten years after they're introduced they will only build vehicles with a 'shelf life' of five years. All that said, my wife and I have a 2023 with 66k on it. 2700 miles after the warranty ran out the cv axles had to be replaced. This is not normal. Thankfully we had an extended warranty. Our Maverick will be the very last new vehicle we will ever purchase.

So when you shift to old vehicles, how long will you be able to get parts for them?

Ten years parts thing is false automotive folklore. There never was any law on this and the only legal obligations automotive manufactures have is to support through warranty.

The mechanic I use most often said vehicles between 2001-2009 have an abundant supply of parts. More than that he said newer vehicles have too much tech making them difficult to work on and expensive. The years mentioned have enough tech to make them more economical but not so much to make them like what we are now dealing with. we have a 2005 Rainier. It has 260k on the engine which runs great. We just spent 3k on all new suspension bushings, brake stuff and multifunction switch issue. Is the vehicle perfect? No. but it does what we bought it to do and has done for us for 19 years.

Well I don't presume to know everything for sure but I have had more than one mechanic tell me this.

I don't have too many issues finding parts for my '91 Camaro 🤷‍♂️ although it's become easier these days than back in '09 when I first got it. Seemed I couldn't find anything for it, even a Hot Wheels 😄

A Camaro is a special-interest vehicle, though. Try to find parts for, say, a '91 Beretta.

That's probably be a valid point. Although it depends on who you ask if it's special interest or not 😄 I see what you're saying though.
