Hi All, looking for some advice - l have driven my Lariat Hybrid 2400 miles in 3 months but average mileage reported on dash has hovered between 34 to 36 MPG.

My 80% drive is highway at 65 to 75 MPH.

Many members here have reported getting mileage of 40 & higher, so not sure if there’s something wrong with my truck or my driving.

Any suggestions?
Keep it to 65mph.

If any car gets 40MPG on the highway that would be the best selling car of all time.
Plenty of non hybrid cars get 40mpg on highway. My HR-V does.

Dude just because you drive fast doesn't mean others have to, remember, we all don't live in your world.

I have a similar daily commute: 80% highway.
I've experimented using Cruise Control, the "Push and Glide" technique, Eco mode on and off,
and combinations thereof. There isn't really a remarkable difference between any of them.
I settled on the "Push and Glide', Eco mode when on local roads, off on the highway (Eco has a more aggressive Regen brake effort and on the highway, I prefer more of a "coast").
I consistently get 42+ but I expect that to decrease significantly with the increased use of Air Conditioning over the next few weeks/months.

your doing fine for non-hyper-mileage driving. similar to what I get as well. wind is wind and time is $. I drive with the traffic flow, and dont follow any rock throwers. I value my paint more than a few pennies saved in gas. You can't get a more functional vehicle with that gas mileage anywhere. period. The gas engine is designed for at-speed mileage - which is why the Maverick kicks the butt of any hybrid suv out there on the highway.

Simply look at the front profile of the Maverick. It is not shaped to be very fuel-efficient at highway speed. But it does look pretty good cruising down the road at any speed!

65mph. Sorry. I wake up like a responsible adult early enough so I don't have to drive like a jackass to save 2 minutes to a job I don't like lol.

AC is the real gas mileage killer. Yesterday was 95 degrees here in Jersey and I had to use it. My mileage went from 42 to 38. And that was just a short 45 mile trip. I was doing about 70-75 mph on the highway and a little bit of driving around town. Then this morning on my 10 mile commute to work the computer red 45 mpg. It cooled off so I had windows down and no AC.

That’s very true, speeding gets you nothing. I hate it that I have to move with traffic so fast. I even got pulled over for leading a pack of cars, even tho I wouldn’t go faster and I was already 12 mph over the limit.

that is not fast, in CA that is normal.
I wonder what the price a gallon of fuel would have to be that would make the drivers in CA slow down a little?

If any car gets 40MPG on the highway that would be the best selling car of all time.
During the oil embargo of the 70's all kinds of fuel efficient vehicles produced MPG's in the 40's. The EPA suggested 55MPH on highways and many states followed suit.

Stories of vehicles produced with experimental technology like 75MPG carburetors made the news as did the mysterious death of Thomas Ogle who modified a 1970 Ford Galaxie so it's MPG would go from 13 to 100. The king of fuel efficiency back in the day was a Dodge Omni. A Plymouth Horizon was a sought after alternative.

I have 2300 miles on my hybrid lariat first edition. I have not changed my screen options but I saw where one can select instantaneous mpg reporting but have to lose one that is currently showing. It does appear to me that at about 62 mph the mpg drops some. I believe that perhaps that is point where ice must stay on or have very short off periods. I have a 79 mile I drive to potty stop. It has just over 300ft drop in altitude and is hilly with generally longer slopes in one direction with the steeper slopes being shorter (this is good in that more Regen minutes are experienced) and driving in this direction and keeping power meter almost always below 20% varying speed from 60-75 without cruise is big secret, I can get 48+mpg and once (probably with tail wind and correct humidity and AC on set at 72°) I managed 61.1mpg. Two days later on the return leg I was lazy and set cruise mostly at 75mph and got 37.8mpg.😳. Do not remember exactly what power usage meter showed while on cruise but had some mostly 30-40%. As a side note it appears to me that trying to keep power meter below 10% during in town driving is detrimental to mpg as Regen doesn't happen as much and often but it is real hard to tell on short trips. I drive 0.3 mile to my mailbox and can with very light foot get all electric which shows as 999.9mpg? 😱
Yes, l have managed to drive my Lariat in neighborhood all electric around 20 mph. It’s pretty neat!!
