Hi All, looking for some advice - l have driven my Lariat Hybrid 2400 miles in 3 months but average mileage reported on dash has hovered between 34 to 36 MPG.

My 80% drive is highway at 65 to 75 MPH.

Many members here have reported getting mileage of 40 & higher, so not sure if there’s something wrong with my truck or my driving.

Any suggestions?

Eco mode might get you 2 more mpg. A bedcover is supposed to help too.

Thanks, l have soft tonneau cover and use Eco mode often (not always as it’s easy to forget to set mode each time you start the truck).

I would say your MPG sounds right for 80% hiway and at that high speed. I'm getting 45-46 MPG but I'm 90% in town. Window sticker should show 33 MPG hiway so looks like you're doing well.

The previous tank of gas I ran I didn't use Eco mode at all and my MPG dropped by 5. The last tank I used Eco mode about 75% of the time and got that 5 MPG back. Another thing I had to consider to is that I am now running my AC constantly and that to will cause even ECO mode to switch to Hybrid more often. I've seen a reduction in MPG overall using the AC. I am still happy averaging around 38 to 39 MPG again using ECO mode. I am running 40/60 highway/city.

If any car gets 40MPG on the highway that would be the best selling car of all time.

The highlights part is your issue...... Hybrids do well in stop and go traffic, so the highway driving at 75 will lower your MPG, you need to remember, you are driving a brick. 95% of my driving is the city

At, 5k miles in my hybrid and over all average is 37.1 MPG
I drive 40% Rural(70mph) 40% Highway(80mph) and 20% town (40mph).
So that sounds correct to me. If I spend the day in Town I can easily get 40+
Be happy, name another TRUCK that gets 35+ MPG

I'm just over 2200 miles in my Hybrid LUX and averaging 42MPG.
I drive pretty much 50% below 50MPH, 50% above 50MPH.

I have 2300 miles on my hybrid lariat first edition. I have not changed my screen options but I saw where one can select instantaneous mpg reporting but have to lose one that is currently showing. It does appear to me that at about 62 mph the mpg drops some. I believe that perhaps that is point where ice must stay on or have very short off periods. I have a 79 mile I drive to potty stop. It has just over 300ft drop in altitude and is hilly with generally longer slopes in one direction with the steeper slopes being shorter (this is good in that more Regen minutes are experienced) and driving in this direction and keeping power meter almost always below 20% varying speed from 60-75 without cruise is big secret, I can get 48+mpg and once (probably with tail wind and correct humidity and AC on set at 72°) I managed 61.1mpg. Two days later on the return leg I was lazy and set cruise mostly at 75mph and got 37.8mpg.😳. Do not remember exactly what power usage meter showed while on cruise but had some mostly 30-40%. As a side note it appears to me that trying to keep power meter below 10% during in town driving is detrimental to mpg as Regen doesn't happen as much and often but it is real hard to tell on short trips. I drive 0.3 mile to my mailbox and can with very light foot get all electric which shows as 999.9mpg? 😱

I average 39mpg (more uphill) 70+ on the highway to work, and 44-45 on the way back. I don't see how this vehicle can be rated 33 highway, I don't think I have seen a trip under 38 no matter what.

(EDIT) Tips:
Use Eco Mode
Use Tonneau Cover
Use Cruise Control
Drive a little slower if possible
Turn down/off ac if possible

That sounds about right - EPA estimate is 33 highway, so you're beating that. I think for the people that post about getting 50mpg while going 85mph or whatever, either the car's computer is overly optimistic (mine was reading about 1-2 mpg too high) or the trip had very favorable conditions (downhill with a tailwind), or both.

Personally, I'm sitting at a little under 39mpg over 1500 miles as tracked by fuelly. That's a pretty good mix of city and highway, and I definitely drive more gingerly than I did in my old car.

I've put a bit over 7200 miles on my XLT since I picked it up in January. Hand calculating I'm at 35.1 mpg after 26 fill ups. I do a mix of suburban and interstate, with a little traditional city thrown in, and am getting better mileage than I did in my last vehicle. I don't baby it or race from light to light, but I do keep up with traffic. Highway wise I run between 70 and 75. Currently I use 87 octane and try to get it from Top Tier stations and when/if prices become more reasonable, I'll likely use 89 for a bit and see if that does anything to improve on those numbers.

Also, I run a soft tri-fold and keep a little bit of gear (under 100lbs) in the bins under the backseat as well. Just know, as stated here and in other posts about MPG's, the computer is optimistic about the mileage it's delivering.
