I made a comment on our KIA Niro doing 46 mpg average. Others have commented about small cars doing 40+ mpg. The issue to have in mind here is the weight of these cars vs the weight of the Maverick, as well as the Maverick is designed to to do some heavy carrying which the the cars were not. Some time I am seeing apples being compared to oranges.

Hi All, looking for some advice - l have driven my Lariat Hybrid 2400 miles in 3 months but average mileage reported on dash has hovered between 34 to 36 MPG.

My 80% drive is highway at 65 to 75 MPH.

Many members here have reported getting mileage of 40 & higher, so not sure if there’s something wrong with my truck or my driving.

Any suggestions?
From what I've researched and read, the Maverick will get lower hwy milage because city driving produce "regenterive braking power". Ie, more city driving gets better milage.

Thanks, l have soft tonneau cover and use Eco mode often (not always as it’s easy to forget to set mode each time you start the truck).
ECO mode must be turned on every time you start your truck? Currently driving a 2014 Honda CR-V and ECO is always on unless it is turned off.

Yes that is what my experience is - when l drive at less than 60 mph or in stop & go traffic, l get 40 to 50 mpg for those particular trips but if l cruise along in highway at speed >70 mph, then those trips don’t do better than 36-38 mpg.

Yeah this is Maverick’s feature - each time you start it, it resets to Normal mode regardless what mode you had selected. Hope they will fix it with a software update.

I wish it would start in the last state it was in. If it was turned off in eco, I want it to start in eco. If it was turned off in normal, I want it to start in normal.

Just drive in town. Hybrids get better gas mileage in town because it is running mostly on electric power. On the Highway you are getting expected mileage. The ecoboost will get your averages but no higher.

When my Maverick finally arrives the plan is to put on a A.R.E. truck cap. Anyone comment on the mpg effect with a cap?

So from many of the comments here its YOU guys who are speeding by me on the highway when I go along at no faster than 65 mph. I don't have a Mav YET. . But wow everyone drives way faster than I do.

If any car gets 40MPG on the highway that would be the best selling car of all time.
My brother just drove his hybrid xlt from CA to MI, averaged 45+mpg. The key was that he was driving 70 the whole way (convoying with a bus)

That sounds about right - EPA estimate is 33 highway, so you're beating that. I think for the people that post about getting 50mpg while going 85mph or whatever, either the car's computer is overly optimistic (mine was reading about 1-2 mpg too high) or the trip had very favorable conditions (downhill with a tailwind), or both.

Personally, I'm sitting at a little under 39mpg over 1500 miles as tracked by fuelly. That's a pretty good mix of city and highway, and I definitely drive more gingerly than I did in my old car.
Sounds like my drive and the mpg I get. BUT I had no idea until today about eco mode. I saw my mpg drop a bit in the last 2 weeks I live in the desert so my air was on a lot.

Over the first thousand miles my overall average is 46 mpg. I can usually get that on the highway with the AC on going. 55/65. It's pretty much entirely how you drive it and use eco mode. If your foot goes up and down rapidly on the accelerator, you like to blast out of ramps and you don't use regenerative braking to it's full potential your mileage will be bad. I could get mileage in the 30s too if I tried. You really can't expect to get good mileage driving these things or any vehicle aggressively. I turn it into a game. Let's see how much I can squeeze out of it this time...

I'm getting just over 43 in mixed highway/ Town with the AC on all the time.

No bed cover. Almost always in eco ( unless I forget. I wish we could set it as default)

Put your screen on the coaching screen which shows when you are using "electric" and adjust your speed and driving to maximize the electric driving.
