My '24 Hybrid XLT with 6,000 miles on it has suddenly dropped in MPG from 43 to less than 30 in last two fillups. No changes in driving habits ( no towing ever) , only two variables I can think of are 1) cold winter weather, 2) just noticed tire PSI is around 32 even after 50 mile trip in 35 degree weather. The door sticker says 35psi Cold~~~~ can that be causing such a difference? Or does anyone have a good answer to what's causing the huge drop in MPG?
No Snarky answers please, and thank you

Don't read the🦈🦈 answers.
I couldn't find an emoji of a snarky.🤣
You omitted your location. If your in Bismarck North Dakota the engine is running more to keep the cab heated???
If you're in Miami Florida you may have a problem.

No change in tires; original factory Continentals.
Location is Eastern Seabord, Mid-Atlantic; just got first blast of cold weather in last two weeks & have noticed ICE "noise" more than usual so that's the Third variable I didn't mention~~~So using the heater appears to be the suspected cause~~~~
running AC in summer didn't show any drop in MPG. Guess I'll have to wait it out till Spring... thanks to everyone's input~~~ I appreciate it.
Have 2nd oil change and state inspection scheduled Feb 1st. Thanks....

The three phase electric air conditioner in the hybrid is outstanding it got to 117° last Summer generally over 112°. That meant when entering the truck it was probably 147°-150° inside the cab and it worked flawlessly. Even in auto mode set at 72°
Heating the Maverick seems to be a more energy consuming endeavor
Especially if you are not driving any kind of distance for the engine to get hot. I think it's below 37° there is a heater booster that is electrical but that electric has to be replaced by the gas engine.

Cold weather is a killer! Mine drops as well. When it is getting to be 10 degrees, it gets a little worse still. The ICE defiantly runs a lot more. I am sure the temp affects the hybrid battery performance as well . I know that it is harder to keep the vehicle warm the colder it gets.

Seems each time it warms back up, the mileage starts to go back up, so I am not worried about it.

Cold weather definitely causes mpg to drop. Had a Camry hybrid that did the same thing.

But dropping from 40+ to under 30 seems excessive. Mine drops to about 35-36 in winter. Try inflating tires to 35 and see what happens.

I noticed a big drop in economy in the winter due to the requirement for the engine to run alot more in order to provide heat. The difference for me, almost all small city driving under 80km/h (50 MPH) is about 25 - 30 %

To put it in perspective though, even in the winter the Maverick is getting approximately 30% better fuel mileage then my wife's 2023 Mazda CX-30 AWD. So I am still very happy.

So far our winter has been mild barely dropping below zero (Celsius) a few times so far. I tend to not set the heat above 17.5 and I don't turn it on until the windows start to fog and turn it off almost immediately after the windows clear up. If I can I try to turn it on when I expect the ICE to start like up a hill or starting off at a light. For the most part I just use the heated seats and steering wheel for warmth. So far, I have only lost a few liters/ 100Km (45.25 mi/US gal down to 42mi/US gal).

Cold weather. Im usually close to 600 miles a tank for the summer. I will be lucky if I get 400 this tank. I also remote start it and let it warm up for 15 minutes before I head out anywhere in the cold months.
