I had an oil change done recently, and about 500 miles later the underbody splash shield came loose. It started flapping in the wind at highway speeds and dragging at lower speeds.

I took it back to the oil change shop, and they secured it with a few zip ties. It's holding for now, but I'd really like to put it back the way it was from the factory rather than relying on zip ties.

Can anyone help me identify which OEM screws, clips, retainers, or fasteners are supposed to be holding it in place? I'd like to replace any missing hardware and restore it to like-new condition.

Any part numbers, diagrams, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you could post pictures of your splash shield. Not sure what the extent of damage or ziptiery is being utilized to secure it. If nobody has any pics handy I’ll grab some for you. I honestly wanted to check on my new CV axles that were just replaced (warranty wobble).

And when you reinstall - they probably failed to tuck it above the front edge of bumper - so it was easier to catch the wind.

And probably every change has over-tightened and striped the wimpy holders.

ETA:
Glenn - I think that other variety pack you had was better.
Maybe not OEM, but better.

Better might be questionable.
The OP requested OEM.
So I googled and posted OEM.🤷‍♂️

Here are the 15 screw locations.

@Glen Baker LLC - Of course I've googled it. I'm a bit unsure exactly what I need which is why I'm here asking for advice.

@DrNoobNStein & all - Please see my photos below as requested.

There are 3 position points fastened with zip ties. The rear of the pictures is what was loose and dragging. The front towards the front bumper did not/has not yet become loose.

The only thing more stupid than the oil change guy not properly securing the shield initially is when he then zip-tied it and cut the tag ends of the ties at 1" and a nice 30* angle to cut the next person's hands who fixes the issue..

After 2 different Ford Quick Lanes repeatedly left out screws and stripped the clip nuts on the splash shield on my Escape, I went back to doing my own oil changes. My Maverick has only been done by me and will be as long as I am physically able. Most oil change "technicians" and their managers don't care and the problems don't stop even after pointing them out. They always deny causing the problem and say the screws must have fallen out by themselves. I have never had a screw fall out when I put it in. I've seen lots of cars on the road with loose and flapping/dragging splash shields.

This is the reason I do my own oil changes. I had this same thing happen to my F150 after a "quick lube". It is so much cheaper and you know it is done right. Years ago, I loaned my Olds Cutlass to my mother -in-law, and she had the oil changed. The shop called me and told me to tell her not to drive it. Next, she called me and said the car was making a funny rattling noise and had quit running. They installed the wrong oil filter, and she left a trail of oil out of the shop.
