Longest hybrid oil change interval?!?

Has anybody actually had their mileage float past 10,000?

I’ve seen the OLM predicting more than 10,000 - but is that number as accurate as “miles to empty”?

My last oil change. Could have gone an extra 100 miles. Time was not the limit at 10 months.
It has nothing to do with fuel economy and last whatever 100's of miles used in the calculation of DTE.

That Est Distance remaining - is what Ford app reports. Sometimes.
Not sure why it's left off sometimes when I fillup.
I'm wondering if it's not shown if time appears to be the limiting factor to reach a year, but is shown when mileage appears to be the limiting factor because I'm coming in under a year.
Have to look at my notes to decide on that one.

It's only the longest OCI calculated so far... we'll see what it ends up at.

My first OCI was 10,274 and 390 days on the oil. Oh no! I went past a year! Truck will grenade any second now!!!
Last change was 10,625 miles and 326 days on the oil.

My current miles per year estimate is only 11,486; so I'm not likely to break any records.

You SHOULD change your oil annually even if undriven. Ask Jay Leon’s mechanic…

Since I drive less than 2000 miles per year - your “5,000 miles & be done with it” would not work for me.

I do cross-country hauling, so my OLM gets reset multiple times between oil changes, just because the message is annoying. (The OLM count down is accelerated when doing the high revs that towing demands).

At ~25k interval now, (which is only ~3 months), and oil analysis continues to come back good.

Please stop advocating for guidance contrary to manufacturing and warranty specifications. Open your manual or search the web. Directly from the manual:

And if that isn't enough, multiple owners have reported OLMs allowing over 10,000 miles and independent oil testing showing within spec (meaning still providing appropriate lubricity) well beyond 10,000 miles.

The above guidance is for BOTH the Ecoboost AND Hybrid. Hybrid oil life will be longer because the engine doesn't even turn for a good portion of the miles and rarely idles.

Although you had to reset the OLM. How many miles did it go before hitting 0%?

It's NOT 10k miles for the hybrid.

It is 12 months max. Or.
Whatever the usage allows if less than 12 months.

The manual, looked up in the app by my VIN says Do not exceed 1 year or 10,000mi, but then says Hybrid may achieve longer distances, but do not exceed 1 year. Just a bit confusing on the mileage.

The person asked for recommendations. I am giving my recommendation. I could care less what anyone else chooses to do with their hybrid Maverick. I choose to do an oil change every 5,000 miles. As l mentioned previously we live in a very hot climate here in the Mojave Desert and the vehicle engine compartment gets hot, as does the engine compartments in all of our other vehicles. That alone to me puts our vehicle in the severe use range. I choose 5,000 miles instead of chancing it to 7,500 miles. It is peace of mind to know the oil change is done. This is directly from our 2023 Maverick Lariat hybrid owner's manual. Please tell me where MY opinion and thus MY recommendation is in any way contrary to what Ford recommends in our owner's manual? Are people not entitled to their opinions anymore?

Is a bit confusing. Surfstar’s OP is asking for mileage data points beyond the 10,000 before the 12 month reset.

So far, heybales hit 11.1 thousand. The Member who is at 25,000 and counting did multiple resets - so not really a valid point until the reset numbers they reset at are known.

I think Ford should say “15,000 miles or 12 months” for the Hybrid.

Of course you can share your own opinion, but when you offer it unqualified and without context and contrary to mfr recommendations, prepare to get feedback. Your oil change intervals are also a choice, based on your specific extreme weather. Maybe add your context by editing your earlier comment.

Common sense says that an engine that starts up and stops repeatedly is going to be harder on an engine than one that is running continuously at a reasonably steady RPM, thus circulating oil throughout it constantly. In my opinion (note that I said MY opinion) that very fact alone places the Maverick hybrid's ICE in the category of severe use. It likely takes a few seconds, or more, at each start of the gas engine for the oil to reach what it is there to lubricate. That repeated starting and stopping, over and over and over again, has got to stress the oil, let alone the engine.

I would love to see the comments from the oil sample folks (Blackstone?) when they see how many miles you’re putting on your oil

I assume your towing with a Maverick Hybrid and not a Peterbilt (sp?).

Common sense loses to actual data. It has been shown time after time that the ICE in a well designed Hybrid puts less stress on your motor oil for the same amount of miles. Hybrid’s have been well designed for decades already and still improving.

Common sense you mention definitely applies to the EB Turbo engines, however. But that is off topic

That said - if I had a Hybrid I would be changing my oil every 2,000 miles or so. One year, 0% OLM. I change the oil on my EB (off topic sorry) every 7 or so months at 1500 miles or so, 40% OLM.

EB don't exceed 10K.
Hybrid you may exceed 10K.

Neither over a year.

Pretty sure I know what super basic rules the OLM is following.
Not that confusing really.
