I have a friend who delivers bulk oil to all the dealers in Western Colorado. He says Ford is the only company that doesn't use full synthetic.

Got under 8,500 miles so I won’t know till I hit 50KOut of curiosity, what's been the condition of those filters when you changed them. ?
Nothing wrong with blends at all. Those companies that use full syn, their engines are not lasting much longer anyways.I have a friend who delivers bulk oil to all the dealers in Western Colorado. He says Ford is the only company that doesn't use full synthetic.
I have heard some Ford Dealers don’t even use Motorcraft oil. Instead they will buy bulk generic oil based on price & availability - as long as it meets Ford’s specifications,I have a friend who delivers bulk oil to all the dealers in Western Colorado. I doubt that you'll have sludge at 50K miles on 5-6K mile OCIs.Because of the two very small screen filters protecting my Turbo I’ll do 5,000-6,000 mile intervals with Motorcraft Full Synthetic.
That’s only two services a year for me.
I’ll change those two filters around 50,000 miles. I consider this mighty cheap insurance.
But that’s just me.
Although they don't have a maintenance interval, Ford REQUIRES them to be replaced if a turbo is replaced under warranty. If they're not replaced, Ford will pay the initial claim. But if the turbo fails again, they will refuse to pay again. And they MAY do a chargeback on the initial claim. The vast majority are still clean no matter what the mileage is when the turbo fails. But, the one that are clogged, are really clogged.Got under 8,500 miles so I won’t know till I hit 50K
I will ask Ford to hold the old ones for me.
I’ve only seen them once when pulled due to a turbo failure at I think it was 70,000 miles. The failure was in a vehicle that followed the oil monitors advice of 9 to 10,000 mile oil intervals using the blend not the full synthetic oil.
They were partially clogged with sludge lowering, restricting the turbos oil flow rate.
I believe it was an isolated incident and these two filters are supposedly not on any periodic maintenance schedule.
The turbo may have failed anyway due to any number of reasons.
I think it was under $300 to change them both.
It’s in my notes, I’ll get into it after 50,000 miles has been reached.
These two screen filters were very small inline things about an inch long.
I could be totally wrong about this ya know.
I have the extended warranty but on the outside chance this Ecoboost remains trouble free I might decide to drive it into the ground. Make it my last vehicle.
I’d need I think 250,000 to 300,000 miles of service to keep it til I die, or can’t drive.
Maybe I’ll have them burry me in it.
It would make a very comfortable coffin don’t cha know. :’P
You're correct, synthetic oil and top fuel is better for any turbo engineAlthough they don't have a maintenance interval, Ford REQUIRES them to be replaced if a turbo is replaced under warranty. I'm sure they're getting the Oil Cheap makes You wonder why they charge so much for the Works Package?Looks like you heard correctly.
"Ford dealers do not always use motorcraft oil. While it's the brand Ford recommends and many dealerships use it, some may opt for other brands of bulk oil that meet Ford's specifications, or offer different Motorcraft product lines, like full-synthetic, upon request. Cost considerations can influence a dealership's choice, and the type of oil may vary depending on the vehicle and the dealership's specific suppliers."
I think mine is around the same.$79.95 for full synthetic and the works package is what my dealer charges.
