I'm glad that I've read other owners posts to learn the dos and don't of electronics. If the key is left inside of a hybrid vehicle, put the window down. This came in handy while filling up my gas tank. I got locked out! Fortunately, my window was half way down and I unlocked the door.

So keyless entry/push-button start?

Did you check a back door? Since getting fuel - you heard all the doors lock?

Hybrid has nothing to do with it.

There has been some testing that the 25MY keyless attempts to protect thoughtless drivers leaving truck unlocked with fob inside, after awhile.

But also above post likely to be expanded on for most often new owner issue.

Years ago I had a blow out in my used 1999 S-10, so I pulled over on the side of the freeway to deal with it, and the aftermarket powerlock/alarm thing locked with the engine running. Ever since that day even if the running car is parked in my driveway, I roll the window down a bit if I am getting out of it and leaving the keys.
I also have really old non PW/PL cars and sometimes the lock lever can move on its own when you close the door, so same rule with them. My old C3 vette loves doing that to me.

^ 9 times out of 10 it's this. That thread went long, but it's a good read - because it not only has pictures, but it also links to many other threads where owners have had this "issue."

There are dozens and dozens of threads on this. I'd be very surprised if you found a new way to (almost) lock yourself out. :)
Not one person has ever made an honest recording of a Maverick auto locking.

Now you guys have me worried about getting locked out. My truck doesn't have the exterior keypad. I don't use Fordpass so I removed the app as soon as I got home from the dealer from my phone. But I did get out of my truck to open the garage and move some stuff while the truck was still on, key in the ignition and my second key was still in the package from the dealer on the front seat. I could have really screwed myself if that truck auto locked. I have had a couple of vehicles now that have an auto lock/walk away feature where the vehicle automatically locks. It worked pretty well most of the time with the Tesla using your phone. I disabled that feature on the Bolt. I am wondering if there is a setting buried somewhere for the auto lock. Since my Maverick is key operated the Truck doesn't know if the key is in the truck. It should know the key is in the ignition, but shouldn't lock the doors unless I explicitly try to lock it with the key in the truck. Just seems like a bad bad design decision if that is the case.

Now I am thinking maybe I need to get some physical emergency keys cut and on the vehicle in case this does happen. Seems like one more thing to worry about.

There is No auto lock function on any trim level of the Maverick buried or otherwise. Because of the unfortunate placement of the locking mechanism on the door that has been the causes of self locking by the owner.

I also have a posted video about how easy the above happens.
Ford Maverick LOCKED OUT 20241231_103251

If you leave the FOB in the truck and push the above "power lock" button the truck will honk.

For some reason my front locks but my rear stays unlocked.

The truck doesn't "auto lock" as in the situation you are describing. There are people whose pants are apparently so tight, the keyfob buttons get pressed while in their pockets, and there are people who are accidentally locking the driver's door as they exit it.

For those unwilling or physically unable to stop touching the "lock" lever or button, some creative members have come up with physical deterrents...
