I also think, maybe that reducing following distance to three bars from four helps soften the CC reactions or should I say over reaction.

I’ve done this and it helps, but is definitely not a cure all for the rate of deceleration. It brakes sooner, but does not seem to brake softer. I agree with your sentiment that Ford could do better.

Mine also seems to handle curves fine, up to a certain point. On less gentle curves I’ve experienced the cancelling as well, though it has been pretty rare. I know the mountain roads around where you are have some pretty hellacious curves. Did your previous Mav have lane centering/ACC? If so, how did it handle them compared to your new Tremor?

I had 2020 Escape the lane centering 98% of the time was solid and all types of roads. My 2026 Lariat does just as good, but the warning about hands on the wheel seems to go off a lot more than the escape no matter hand postion or grip on wheel because i have tried multiple variations of both and it didnt seem to change the frequency. Most of my driving is eco mode for both and it acted the same in mormal mode as eco for lane centering. The hard braking occurs in eco also but it doesnt accelerate in any great speed. However, is that happening but lane centering or is it the crash detection feature that causes it? And yeah it will sometimes read cars turning in the other lane as being in your way. Also, I use the speed assist in my 26 and that sometimes if not mostly will hard brake to drop down in speed when the speed limit changes

It's a hoot! Where I live many of the roads are mirror flat and laser straight for miles at a time. Even though my hands are on the wheel, the alarm goes off telling me to put my hands on the wheel. It doesn't sense any steering inputs for so long, it thinks I left!

We are on different pages. I don’t think Mav Lane Keeping works well at all. It doesn’t keep me in the lane. It only makes minor corrections.

I have a 2020 Escape with ACC and it keeps me in the lane very well, it practically drives the car, but you gotta steer some or it will chastise you. But not sure about the Mav ACC or fuel economy though.

Depends on your settings. I have mine set for lowest level possible. And a gian lane keeping and lane centering are 2 different things. Yes lane centering will sort of drive the car but I find it's following the curves to be somewhat jerky and at least my Maverick it likes to hug the center line.

I turned off lane keeping as soon as I got mine. The only "version" of it that I like keeping on is where it gently vibrates the steering wheel when you go over the lines.

That is selectable in the menu.

The road meanders from 1500 ft above sea level to 2100

Lane keeping system on over a one month average I get 22.5-23.5 mpg’s.
Mind you my engine is not broken in yet.

System off I’m getting 24.5-25.5 mpg.
Consistently.
It cancels when a turn lane shows up.
Every now and then I can feel the tires scrubbing speed as it randomly wanders side to side for a few hundred feet.

Eating tires,
Burning more gas,
Struggling to stay focused,
All the while diminishing our critical driving skills.

That’s it, I will never try and use it for anything more than a way to text and pick my nose at the same time

Don't believe I get lower mileage using cruise and lane centering on my 2024. Earlier this year took a run to SC from central MA (1900+ miles) and averaged 31+ round trip, mostly interstates with my 2.0EB and cruise set in most cases to 8 over the speed limit (max of 75). Trip home stopped once for gas just before crossing into WV and made it hope from there on that tank full with 34+ for that one tank. Can't complain.

I love the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping. But I also realize it's for the open road out on the Highway. If you have frequent stops such a 65 mph speed limit with a red light or 2, I just tap the brake and handle the stop and reaccellerate and resume after I'm back up to speed. I don't like the hard acceleration if I leave it up the truck. Just have to manage it a little and it works great. Here in Austin Texas with rampant construction and lane closures it sure helps me stay in my lane, especially at night where things can get hard to see. So to me it's great technology but limited and if you use it right it's a fantastic driving aid.

Yes it did but it cannot handle the switchbacks or S curves at all.

I test drove a 2023 Escape and I dont know what Ford had changed in lane centering system at that time but it was bouncing back forth between the lines.

Started driving just as cruise control became a common feature. Became widespread during the oil crisis in 1973 because it improved highway mpg’s.

Did not like it then and have been driving ever since without using it. Tried it - hated it. I also dislike sitting in the passenger or back seat. I am only content when MY feet & MY hands are on the controls.

ACC? Give me a break!

Although eventually I’ll get a fully self driving vehicle (like a Tesla) for public safety…what a drag it is getting old.

In the meantime I’ll enjoy driving MY car. Although I do have my Maverick vibrate the steering wheel if I drift over the center line or fog line. I appreciate that feature!

There are so many Tech advances I appreciate - but ACC is NOT one of them. Gotta run. My home perimeter lawn sensors identified an intruder.

Does your tremor have the adaptive cruise control with Lane centering, or does it have Lane departure warning / assist. They are two entirely different systems. My Lariat has Lane centering and it works great as long as the camera can see clearly defined stripes on each side of the lane. My Transit 250 has Lane assist, if you don't steer it will ping pong you off the stripes.

I recently traded a MY22 XLT for a MY26 Lariat. I found the lane keeping system on the XLT worked well. It rarely did anything, but when it did get my attention, I was glad it did.

I find the lane centering system on the Lariat to be annoying. It steers way too much. I see how it can scrub off speed reducing gas mileage. I live near an old two-lane bridge that I have tried crossing several times with lane centering on. I end up turning it off because it acts like a nervous teen crossing a bridge for the first time.

I like the way the Lariat's ACC reads speed limit signs and adjust the speed accordingly. However, it accelerates way to hard, even in eco mode, and it brakes hard coming to a stop. Driving the Lariat using stop and go definitely kills the gas mileage. I usually drive using ACC disengaging to coast to a stop and accelerating to the set speed before engaging it.

Glad I read this, off it goes in my Mav. No need for it. My wife’s Edge practically throws you sideways if you even drift 6” one way or the other. Drives me crazy.

I use it but agree- its herky jerky at exits and merge. The 'keep hands on wheel is overly annoying, but benefitial for some times when i need to be somewhat distracted

Since when does lane keeping control speed in addition to steering? The former is part of the adaptive cruise control?

I find it hard to believe that you would be scrubbing tires unless it is doing NASCAR back-and-forth scrubbing tires clean. I don't use the lane keeping at all. The lane centering is super useful on all driving on my unit. There is no more steering movement than what would occur under normal driving. i
