I have tried to google this but did not find a good answer. Is it worth getting a better exhaust for a hybrid? In theory it should give a few hp and help mpg right? Or is it not recommended since the electric motor and engine have been tuned to work together with stock parts. I would think that having hybrids on the market for the past 2 decades would have more people modding them, but I guess most people who drive a Prius would have not interest in improving performance.

Are there any other possible mods for increased performance on a hybrid?

Personal opinion I would say not. Exhaust is something you put on because you want to hear the engine, usually because you are some kind of an auto enthusiast and you appreciate the sound. A hybrid engine is never doing what the vehicles doing, it's never linear. What you hear does not necessarily match up with what you're doing while you're driving or what the vehicle's actually doing at any given time, and the engine's always starting and stopping abruptly. It just seems like something you really wouldn't want to hear. Hybrids often sound like a leaf blower, not necessarily what you want.

Usually only makes a difference on a turbo. On my last car I also went straight pipe as it not only sounded cooler and reduced backpressure but also reduced the weight of a huge muffler, and removing weight is similar to adding horsepower.

I wouldn't bother with the hybrid, and would def go ecoboost if looking for upgrade potential and higher performance.

I doubt the exhaust will do much unless you keep on the gas for awhile since initial acceleration is handled by the electric part of the power train. Would be cool if someone found a way to get more torque out of it. Maybe something similar to those electric drag cars using old Nissan Leaf parts.

I used to think the same before I got the truck, but actually (when it counts i.e. not idling or cruising) the pedal input and acceleration to RPM is actually pretty linear in my experience when you're doing normal-ish to extra acceleration. But no I would not recommend anyone waste time on hybrid exhaust mod lol.

I have the Roush axle back exhaust on my 2015 Mustang GT. Totally worth it for that. It sounds deeper and more assertive than the factory installation.

I'm getting an XL hybrid and my build week is a week and a half away. When the truck arrives, will I be doing the same thing?

Absolutely not.

Really on NA low output engines, it’s not worth the trouble because the difference would be negligible. I wouldn’t do it.

I’d be curious from someone who has better knowledge of how the hybrid system ties into the ICE and if any of the emissions systems are different from a standard ICE but I’m just thinking out loud with that question and don’t really know.

Have you ever put an exhaust on a lawn mower? Because that’s what it’ll sound like. Those CVTs cause the engine to be droney at higher speeds, so I couldn’t imagine with an exhaust. It’s like putting an exhaust on a Prius. Seems a little odd.

Big no on that one. You can't even rev the engine. Upgrading aerodynamics and weight reduction would have a better effect than an intake/exhaust/tune/etc.

You can rev the engine at park, to like 1000rpm lol. Just a tiny bit. Not sure why but it’s there. Maybe to force ICE to turn on if you wanted.
