Any one do an after market exhaust system on the 2023 Lariat HYBRID? I know I could do one if I had the non hybrid but want to know about doing same to the hybrid.

I don't think anyone makes an aftermarket exhaust for the hybrid...

I too, am interested in what's available for exhaust upgrades-

Thing is, since our hybrid trucks have an Atkins ICE, some sort of heat exchanger, and also an engine braking system, something tells me we're stuck with the stock exhaust system...

Magnaflow shows they have available exhausts for the hybrid but want to be sure. Their website is kinda vague.

I don't think you'll find many options since the market is so small.

I have a mental graph for aftermarket exhausts I am having a hard time explaining:
- they sound better on larger engines, the smaller you go, the worse they sound.
- they sound better on manual cars, worse on automatics, and not good on CVT type.
- they are more suited towards performance vehicles, and not so much hybrids (which are all about efficiency)

A hybrid mav is on the bottom corner of my graph.

With all that being said... I do want to put an aftermarket exhaust tip on it which is even more pointless lol

Two of those are irrelevant for replacing the exhaust and the heat exchanger just means necessitating cutting the tailpipe after it.

So I will say, since the hybrid power train only occasionally uses ICE and switches battery and ICE all the time, the exhaust would sound very very strange since it's not constant shifting and rpm range as a typical ICE would be. Throw in the fact it doesn't even have a traditional transmission as a normal ICE vehicle would have it may sound even more interesting. And then the fact that louder exhaust means you would constantly hear when ICE does actually kick in vs stock when it's seamless and quiet I'm failing to understand why in the world anyone would pay money for upgrades exhaust in Hybrid Maverick.

And this is coming from someone who owns hybrid maverick along with putting upgraded exhaust in many of my other vehicles.

I would like an exhaust that sounds different-

Not LOUD, just different...

I honestly don't care if anyone else likes it or not-

I'm no Atkins engine expert.

But-

From what I've read, exhaust back pressure may be more important, so just going bigger might be a bad idea???

I've heard this too.
If less backpressure would have helped performance, I can see ford using a dual exhaust or something to allow more free flow for performance/fuel economy gains.

that would add to the cost of the truck and if you remember this truck was supposed to be designed to be a cheap way to get into a pickup.

Ah yeah, you're right. The price is more important than the efficiency.

You can go to pretty much any muffler/exhaust shop and have them cut off the muffler and weld a new one and a tip on. You don’t have to replace the thing.

As mentioned already, the random on/off of a hybrid would make a "performance" sounding exhaust ... sound weird.

You could be sitting still, deceleration or accelerating on battery/EV - then "vroom" the roar of a magnaflow and a CVT comes to life. Eww. Lack of shift points makes it sound even worse.

the only thing I am thinking about doing on mine, Once I have it, is to wrap the exhaust.
