I am picking up my 26 Maverick Lariat hybrid today. Allstate gives me 14 days to insure this, the price will go up over $100 a month while going down in coverage. Here is what the proposal is

Moving collision from $500 to $1k
Moving comprehensive from $0 to $250
Dropping uninsured motorist from $250/500k to $100/300k or $50/100K

all of this comes out to $374 a month

Anyone using other companies that might be less?
If you use a brokerage they get there commissions, if you go directly to company you will pay less, also you mentioned Allstate they like to lowball than raise the renewal. Look for company's you can call direct like GEICO, progressive, Hartford, etc. insurance rates have gone crazy the last few years, good luck.

I am an insurance agent selling both Allstate and Progressive. I had Farm Bureau for a while to get a bundling discount on my Homeowners Policy. Quoting for customers and myself, I found Progressive to be WAAAAY lower than all the others and I'm not being prejudiced because they pay us a lower commission rate than any other company. My rate on my 2022 XLT Hybrid is less for 6mo. than your monthly premium and I have comparable coverage. Allstate is unusually high. This assumes that you have a clean driving record (no accidents or violations in the past 5yrs). Hope it works out for you, Brother! BTW, love my Maverick and I was a Ford Dealer for 48yrs

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples when buying auto insurance. You want adequate coverage to fix your vehicle or replace it in the event of an accident. As for liability coverage, I buy as much as it takes (usually $500k single limit) to meet the minimum level for an umbrella policy to cover the overage. And two million isn't too much if you can afford it. In Florida you can stack the coverage if you have two vehicles, effectively doubling your liability coverage. Use a broker. Tell him you want enough coverage to replace your vehicle if it is totaled and the same uninsured/underinsured coverage as your liability limits to protect you if you are wiped out by an uninsured or underinsured vehicle. Picture you suffering an amputated leg or arm and can never do your job again, but you went on the cheap with the liability/underinsured/uninsured coverage. You might have a good liability case against the other driver, but if they have no insurance or went on the cheap with a low liability policy you'd be SOL if you chose low limits yourself. I've worked in the personal injury law business for over 40 years as a legal investigator. If there's one thing I would tell people who are good drivers and can afford it, buy the most coverage you can in case you yourself are injured by someone else's negligence. Ask your insurance broker if you are covered as a pedestrian and struck down in a crosswalk by an uninsured/underinsured driver who then takes off as a hit and run accident. Furthermore, I had USAA for decades and finally switched to Traveler's Insurance at half the cost. Have your broker shop around. If you doubt what I'm saying about uninsured/underinsured coverage, please call a reputable personal injury attorney and ask them what advice they would give you when shopping for auto insurance and umbrella policies.

Does Erie offer insurance in Colorado?

They've treated me well and I pay WAY less then you do, My GLI has full coverage, liability on the 91, and its $800 a year for both combined. I cant imagine paying $374 a month. Even when I was 18 living in an apartment with a mid credit score, I never paid more then $125 a month.

you're getting taken advantage of. Shop around and I'm sure you will find a reasonable price - whatever that is these day. You should not pay 300+ a month. If you're a homeowner, use the same ins for both. I personally wouldn't go less than 100/300 and should carry underinsured. Shop around at reputable company's.

 well all I can say is I know numerous insurance agents, some with insurance companies like allstate, state farm, etc. and some that are brokers/independent agents. They ALL make a commission from the policy's premium and residual commissions on renewal's, that's how the ALL make a salary/living! Their just like any other sales person, they get commissions on the products they sell and usually get bonuses for meeting/exceeding sales targets, etc. I would have to disagree that going directly to a particular insurance companies agent will necessarily save a person money. IMO, using a broker/independent agent is more likely to save you money due to the fact they are not tied to any 1 given companies policies and rates.

☝EXACTLY. I hope the OP does not fall for Allstate's pressure. Shop around and BUNDLE if one is a homeowner. I would also encourage all to consider a Personal Liability Umbrella Policy, in my experience, their very reasonable pricewise CYA insurance.

My umbrella policy is $120/year. That's 410 a month for piece of mind and to guarantee I have a place to sleep at night if I am ever sued.

Switched from Allstate to Progressive. I had Allstate just for a year… previously with Progressive. My 6 month premium went from $370 down to $200. I’m 60 yrs old and have really good credit

70+ starts increasing premiums with some companies but no where near that much.
ETA: Found this:
Key Takeaways

  • Seniors tend to pay more for insurance as they age — between 65 and 75, rates increase by about 15%, or $346 a year.
  • On average, Travelers, GEICO, and Nationwide offer the cheapest rates for drivers 65 and older.
  • Seniors may reduce their insurance costs by utilizing usage-based insurance (UBI) or low-mileage policies.
