I found Travelers to have the best rates in my area of NY. My full coverage $1500/ded, no claims, pay in full, is under $1,000/yr. Obviously, there are a number of variables that will change the price. Find a local insurance broker that has connections to several different insurance companies and have them shop the insurance companies for you. They generally know which ones to check first.

Yep, I use Travelers as well, have for a long time now. I agree 100% with using a broker (independent agent) as I call them. Since they are not tied to any 1 insurance company, they can be your "agent" for many different insurance companies, not bias to any 1 company and can sign you up with the company that works out best overall for an individual persons needs/situation.

I am picking up my 26 Maverick Lariat hybrid today. Allstate gives me 14 days to insure this, the price will go up over $100 a month while going down in coverage. Here is what the proposal is

Moving collision from $500 to $1k
Moving comprehensive from $0 to $250
Dropping uninsured motorist from $250/500k to $100/300k or $50/100K

all of this comes out to $374 a month

Anyone using other companies that might be less?
$374 a month ? is your driving history terrible, are you 17 ?

Pay cash, carry liability only. After all if you have a good enough job you can absorb a totaled vehicle or you should walk 😜. BTW some loans will dictate minimum coverage based on your credit score.
Before you reply with the "get a better job" BS, retired, credit score over 825, and I carry very low deductible and very HIGH liability limits. The few extra dollars a year for piece of mind is worth it to me.

Yes perhaps getting a better job was not the correct response to this, a better would have been learn financial responsibility and budgeting at a young age, you’re problem with insurance prices is just a small portion of your over all situation. Brought on by years of mismanagement.

If Eire is available in your area they are a great company. Just ask @Cherokee about Eire insurance. I understand wanting the lowest price but sometimes a little more for much better coverage is worth it.
I don't see Eire but I see Erie, is that what you meant?

I used to have farm bureau which was good when I bought the vehicle for the $500 off the truck but switched later to Progressive. I'd definitely have them quote you a rate.

And I thought MA was high for insurance. With similar coverage, my bill is 1834.00 per year and that includes a surcharge for an accident. Call a local agent that uses several companies.

Damn, I just got full coverage for my 26 Lariat Hybrid and its only $111 a month through Progressive. If there is 1 benefit to getting older, cheaper auto insurance is it.

I asked my agent about raising my deductibles when I met with him. Since I have 2 vehicles, 1 that gets driven rarely, I thought it would save me some bucks. If I went with 2500 comp. deductible with NO glass coverage on both vehicles it would save me $80/year both cars. I currently have $250 ded with $50 for glass. Dropping uninsured down as low as possible would save less than $30 a year/ car. But the real kicker was since my rate is locked in for 5 years, if I remember correctly might be 3 years, unless I make a change to the policy I would have actually ended up paying more due to the NEW higher rates for 2026. As it is I pay less for more coverage than if I was a new policy. That could be the case with other companies also as more data on totaled Mavericks hit the actuary system. The premium on the Maverick decreased slightly this year due to a change in the neighborhood rate factor.

Many factors influence insurance costs. Here are just a few in no particular order.
  • Location
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Marital status
  • Number of drivers on the same policy and their ages, genders.
  • Additional vehicles on the same policy
  • Number of miles driven annually
  • Level of coverage/deductible for collision, comprehensive, liability, glass coverage, full replacement value, etc.
  • Driving record
  • Vehicle trim level and packages.
  • Garaged vehicle
  • Vehicle age
  • Hybrid or not
  • Vehicle use such as commuter or not.
  • Optional adds such as road side assistance, rental car etc.
  • Bundling with other policies such as home or umbrella.
I would bet that no 2 people on this forum have the same insurance cost.
Good luck with comparisons.

Don’t know what State you live in, but if you are in VA or surrounding you may want to contact Rockingham Insurance! I pay for (3) cars, the oldest being a 2023 C7 Vette $ 134 p/m! Hopefully you don’t live in FL! Stay away from all major insurance companies including Allstate. Someone has to pay for they Billion $ Ad campaign!

If you use a brokerage they get there commissions, if you go directly to company you will pay less, also you mentioned Allstate they like to lowball than raise the renewal. Look for company's you can call direct like GEICO, progressive, Hartford, etc. insurance rates have gone crazy the last few years, good luck.
