Most all of these eliminators on eBay are made in China and the prices are all over the place. Some as low as $16. Is anyone out there a little concerned like me about plugging a cheap Chinese product into an OEM harness and system?
I used to feel the same way about using cheap Chinese products. Then I took the fairing off my $30,000 American made, Harley-Davidson and saw "Made in China" stickers on the electronic components. Then I realized they are all basically from China.

This is true and you are correct, but those devices were at least tested, approved, and warranted by Harley Davidson. Let's not forget how computerized we are today facing malware, and virus attacks all the time. I don't know. These things are plugged directly into the start/ignition system and a host of other computers. But what the hey, what could possibly go wrong?

So, I received my second Start Stop eliminator, which looks just like the one in the original video. I installed it as per the video and it did not work. I then looked at the instructions (I know, I should have done that first) and discovered there is yet a third area where the start stop eliminator can be installed: behind the a/c vents. (See Video). So I went to install it there but 2025s are completely different. It could not be installed. I give up. I will continue to push the button every time I start the car. (Yeah, I know, First World problems.)

Did you try the plug right underneath the actual button?
Here is a picture of the plug underneath the button quadrant.

So here's what it looks like. The older models had two plugs; the 2025 only one. And it's half the size of the plug-in area on the device. (Compare the photo of mine to the video.)

I realized what you were saying. The original one I returned was for under the button (Never tried it because I had no idea there were multiple areas to install these things. And I already returned it.) This one was for the area shown in the photo. It doesn't fit there on 25s but does on earlier models apparently.

Holy crap. 😲 You've taken your whole dashboard apart.
I thought the button was contained in the console.

I saw your post after I posted mine. We were seconds apart.
Sad thing is, the plug into the button install would probably have been easier.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you install the one behind the A/C vents for vehicles that have the Push Start button. The one that installs directly to the ASS button is for the models that have a turn keyed start.

I have a push start but it doesn't fit a 2025.

There are a bunch of variations to these devices out there. Not having any instructions in some of them doesn't help, but before you give up entirely on installing an eliminator, I know there is another one out there that you just plug into the OBD connector. The name of it escapes me. Maybe another member can help out with the company. It's about $100 and i think it's a US company.

So i went out and popped off the side panel. My 2025 XLT looked exactly like that video. I easily placed a 7 mm socket on the screw and started to remove it. (Didn't take it off all the way since I don't have the part.) I see no issues installing the stop/ start in my truck.

Does anyone know what that rubber band does?

IMG_7304.webp
I have the rubber band too! 2024 XLT FX4.

My 2 cents on popping the auto/stop button cluster out. Believe it or not it actually easier to remove the entire floor console. I have done it several times. It takes 30 minutes maybe.

It's pricey, but it works. No panel removal required to install.

I saw a couple of those and thought about them, but I also saw a YouTube video somewhere where they said that those cancel your battery saver sensor. And it also appeared that they constantly draw power, which is a bad idea. Maybe someone here has differing information.?
