I think the cv axle bug bit me?

I am sure it will be extended. My 24 Lariat Hybrid just had both half shafts replaced yesterday under warrant at 42,000 miles. Had the vibration at 40-60 mph. Runs nice and smooth now.

I sure hope so, people have a right to throw a fit if they don't. It's not just a date range of MY22 having the issue.

I have a Hybrid 2022 Maverick, noticed a shimmy at the front of the truck when accelerating - made an appointment at Ford and explained what was happening - dropped it off on Monday morning (10/13) and heard nothing back.

I called them this morning and asked for an update and the service manager they said they were replacing both axels because of the CSP 25N09.

I said why is this not under the Maverick's 5 year drive train warranty? They said the CSP 25N09 was like a mandatory recall.

Is there any way to persuade (or argue with) them to change this replacement as part of the original factory warranty?

I want to be able to take advantage of the additional option for replacement if this ever happens again.

Ask them to find those old style axles in stock somewhere and do a swap out - but only the 1 with an issue - don't get both under warranty if only 1 bad.

Then you can have the 2 old style that should go bad - and use the CSP down the road.

If you already had the new axles on the vehicle, the 25n09 wouldn't apply anyway. The first thing we do is to verify that the revised axles are not already on the truck. The truth of the matter is that you are unlikely to ever need axles again once the more robust axles are installed.

Once an updated part is released, the dealership is no longer allowed to use the outdated part. Any outdated part they have in stock is returned to Ford I'm not sure whether they receive a refund or if the part is exchanged for the updated part.

that's fortunately not how it works for the hybrid cv axles.

the original part number for the hybrid cv axles can no longer be ordered, excluding any old stock some Ford dealerships and parts resellers might have in inventory.

the new has superseded it in every way; not only is the new part number used on MY25+ hybrid mavericks, but it's also used on any 22-24 for warranty, over the counter parts sales, and even this CSP.

@mspmms dealership just sucks. there is no reason they can't do exactly what you asked. my dealership did, granted, I have an ecoboost and it doesn't (yet?) have a revised part, but my dealership did replace both cv axles under factory powertrain warranty and kept the CSP available for later use.

It is probably on back order. This is common when they have a recall or bulletin on a part that is in high demand. They are at the mercy of the vendor. Having said that, if your vehicle is not disassembled and it is in safe drivable condition, we usually let the customer take the vehicle and bring it back when the parts arrives.

Ford sent a vehicle to my place of work to pick me up and drive me back to the dealership in order to return my Maverick until all the parts come in for replacement!

Received a call from Ford they now have the axles - I will be dropping off the Maverick on Monday to have them replaced - stay tuned.
