I love the auto hold haven't turned it off in a year and a half [except in the car wash] mine never lurches forward, its a smooth disconnect. There's nothing to get used too, just press the gas and go how could you not like it ?
I haven't tried it yet so I don't know if I like it or not.

To me, it makes the maverick feel like it's broken. Having to give it a jab of the throttle to overcome the brakes. I was wondering if it was genuinely having an issue, then I realized my brother turned Autohold on with his elbow while getting in.

This is the first time I've driven a car with Autohold, does it basically perform this way in most cars? I understand some don't want to sit there applying brake pressure in stop and go traffic for an hour. But for most other situations, I'm just not a huge fan of how it makes the maverick lurch forward unpredictably.
I have yet to touch it and will never touch it on on purpose. Yes wish it wasn't their. Letting go of brake pedal when a car is just a few feet in front of me at stop light its just crazy in MY opinion.

I should give auto hold another try, it was on by default from the factory and in the middle of learning the pedal feel of a new vehicle I found it to be an additional friction point so I turned it off as soon as I recognized it as the source abrupt acceleration.

I do like the engine auto-off for stoplights, I found it easy to learn the brake pressure point where the vehicle is held in place but not yet activating the auto-off (like at a 4-way stop sign). But I will turn it off for a traffic jam or if I’m waiting to turn left on a busy road and I know I will have a small window to take off and reach merging speed.

I believe the hill assist auto hold works all the time, I have never felt any roll-back when stopped at the top of a hill, I wish I had that in my 2005 zx3 manual — did some accidental burnouts more than once!

I no longer have my MY22 Mavericks, but have a Lightning with the same, but more refined feature. I appreciated the brake hold and used it all the time on Maverick. After driving the Lightning for several months I must say it operates the hold must more smoothly with less effort required to release it.

Perhaps they can improve that feature on Maverick going forward.

Love it on my Maverick.

I wish my 68 Mustang had Auto Brake hold, then my right calf wouldn't be larger than my left.

I don't like the auto start-stop. Is there a way to disable it besides pushing button to off every time?

Personally, I like it. And if a couple of idiots behind me over the last few years, had it and used it, I might not have been rear-ended in stopped traffic. Once causing about 2 grand in damage to my Tucson, and the other, no damage to my old Maverick, other than the other car's white paint on my trailer hitch.

I have a small garage and have to ease the Mav into just the right place so I turn the Autohold off when I park but it's always on while I drive and I love it.

The only downside (and I think this is probably true of most high-tech gizmo features) is that I miss it when I drive my wife's RAV4. I've been known to lift my foot from the brake pedal and drift forward an inch or three at a red light.

Auto hold would bother me if it weren't so easy to disable and leave disabled. I certainly understand and can appreciate that some like it, but not for me. I feel the same about cruise control, I drive ~25,000 miles a year and never use it.

To provide additional context, this happened on one of those days where everything was going wrong. Add in the fact that my brain always assumes the worst case scenario, so when this feature turned on, my mind didn't go, it's the Autohold. Instead, it immediately jumped to, something about my truck is broken.

I believe if I were to intentionally use the feature in traffic, I'd like it more.

I somehow put my truck into neutral coming out of a drive-thru. If you want to think there is something wrong with your truck, redline it coming out of a drive-thru. Haha. It wasn't THAT extreme, but I did freak out for a moment.

I never use it because I have always used the release of the brakes as a way to creep up and that isn't an option. I'm sure once everyone is forced to go EV I'll have to learn to live with it.

My wife loves it, but to each their own.

...same with people complaining about 'grabby brakes' , it's cuz they have poor driving techniques.
Nope it's very much the Maverick Hybrid. Been driving for over 20 years, and hybrids for 7+ years of that. Maverick is the only vehicle I've ever driven with this problem with grabby brakes at slow speeds. The 23' you own is less suspetable due to software updates. I've never had any TSBs completed on my MY22 vehicle.

I love the AUTO HOLD. The up to 2 minutes sitting in the intersection or in traffic waiting for the light to turn green is where this feature is most useful. I like that my right ankle is less tired at the end of the day.

Here is a helpful tip: don't use it.
