I usually only use auto hold in drivethrus, but Ford implementation of it sucks. On our other car (Subaru) you can “release” it by a light tap of the brake pedal, which makes it feel much more natural and avoids the “lurching” feeling described by OP.

Also, just a warning, I learned a few weeks ago waiting at the bank that auto hold eventually times out and turns off, so be careful using it if you’re stopping for more than a few minutes.
Never “timed out” on mine.

Not a fan either, I guess I’m just used to letting off of the brakes a bit to just roll forward. I can see people really liking the feature but not me.
Think that is true but like many features think there is a learning curve and some getting used to. I am not a fan but its not a big enough issue for me yet to run with it for a while.

To me it feels like being stopped against a speed bump and you have to give it a little gas to get over it.

I really like it & with a quick push of the button...."poof" it's disabled, easy.

Could not have said it better.

Personally, I'm extremely happy with the feature. Never had it before, and thought it was just a gimmick before I tried it....but I've absolutely fallen in love with it since, and would hate to do without it.
Maybe there is an adjustment issue on some vehicles out there. Mine takes only the slightest nudge of the accelerator to disengage. And also, I have found that if you stop very lightly with it on, it doesn't engage at all. Press a little harder and it does. Makes it very convenient for constant stop and go traffic. Works like a breeze, and you don't ever have to turn it off.

You like it or you don't. My wife will not surrender control of anything in the vehicle. Doesn't like cruise control, autohold, or hill descent. She doesn't trust it, so she doesn't use it, so she doesn't know how to use it, so she doesn't trust it.

To me I think the OP was startled and annoyed by it because he didn't intentionally turn it on. That could happen to anyone but it doesn't mean this is a bad feature.

I use autohold in a drive through but that's pretty infrequent. In stop & go heavy traffic, which is even more infrequent for me, I use the stop & go feature with ACC instead, unless people are constantly trying to cut me off. You do have to press the OK button to resume with ACC stop & go but this is easier than pushing the gas, then brake.

I don’t use it all the time but I will turn it on at times while I’m in city traffic waiting for red lights that take awhile to change. Usually use the auto stop/start feature at the same time so I am not just sitting there wasting gas!!

To me, it makes the maverick feel like it's broken. Having to give it a jab of the throttle to overcome the brakes. I was wondering if it was genuinely having an issue, then I realized my brother turned Autohold on with his elbow while getting in.

This is the first time I've driven a car with Autohold, does it basically perform this way in most cars?
I tried it but didn't like the way the vehicle lurches when it releases, my Mazda release was much smoother. I just put it in neutral when I stop and apply the foot brake lightly, that way I can let it roll a bit and not keep the brake pads clamped to one spot on the disks.
I like the fact you can shift from neutral to drive without touching the brake pedal.

I like the auto hold feature, just don't forget to turn it off when going through a car wash. :ROFLMAO:

I really like this option. And for those that do not, then do not turn it on. It is its own button so you have a choice. But for me, i find it a true convenience and I have never had it time out on me. I keep mine on all the time so Thank you Ford for providing this convenience.

It's one of my favorite features on a modern vehicle. The vehicle is able to maintain constant pressure on the brakes effortlessly. The only times I disable it are when I inadvertently hit the AutoHold button instead of the drive mode button. ;)

If you're aware AutoHold is enabled and you ease onto the accelerator, it's pretty much seamless. Engine Start/Stop on an EB, on the other hand, has a split second delay for the ICE to fire up before you start to move. Hybrid means you don't even have to worry about that.
I agree I love it works great; I use to drive a lot of expensive vehicles they didn't have it, start/stop sucks.
