If you have been following my previous posts, I had a steel trailer with no brakes, and the combined weight of the trailer and tractor was around 4,300 pounds, with no trailer brakes. This new aluminum trailer is much lighter, with a total load of around 3,500 pounds for the tractor and trailer, and it has brakes on all four wheels. Although not cheap, it's an investment for life.

Hows the 2.0L EB 8 spd handle that much weight, esp the 4300 lbs?
(4300 sounds like quite a bit behind a Mav without brakes on trailer.)
How much elevation change do you see in your terrain?
...MPG???

It has no issue pulling that much weight; it was stopping that which was the issue. I live in the mountains in New Hampshire, and the truck pulled it nicely, even being 4300. But I could tell it would push the truck if I had to stop quickly. I did this for years with a full-size pickup, but was not comfortable with the Marverick having no brakes. I did not haul the tractor any distance until I got the new trailer. At around 3500 pounds, I was still getting high 20's pulling the tractor..

Having the trailer brakes definitely makes it an investment for life in more ways than one. Nice trailer.

At that price it should be made out of silver.

I get mileage in the high teens hauling my MG on the highway. Trailer brakes, 2.0, 4k and total weight 3600. When I downsized to Mavericks I downsized my trailer from a steel deck open 18' to a semi aluminum open center 17' with torsion bar suspension so ramps are 3 ft long and weigh @10 lb each. Agree new aluminum trailers are getting expensive.
PS: I like your tractor.

That is a great looking trailer. Congratulations.
I have paid more for a small aluminum trailer as well, but it was so well worth the money. Will keep that little trailer for a long time. Bought it 6 years ago and still looks like brand new even it sits outside.

I also have an aluminum trailer. It's a car hauler. Love it. I usually tow it behind my F150 with a 1969 Mercury Cougar on it to car shows a few times every other year. Less weight and no rust.

It could be interesting to see how the Maverick would tow this setup...

Definitely an investment in life. In NH, you are required to have trailer brakes on any trailer >1,500 lbs. if you got in an accident where others were injured or killed, you would likely be found negligent and responsible for the accident, even if it was not your fault.

It's actually 3000 pounds in NH. My boat is rated at 2900 ( boat and trailer) and does not require brakes. All duel axle trailers are sold with brakes; single axles are optional ( I had the choice when I bought the boat). I am literally hauling the boat 3 miles to put it in the water and 3 miles when I take it out at the end of the season. Brakes on boat trailers are a mainteneace headache. My tractor I haul over a 100 miles one way to get to my 2nd home, and it is heavier than the boat setup. But you are right about an accident if you are overweight.

The Maverick does not meet this definition. In order tow 3,000 lbs without brakes, you need to have a tow vehicle with a GVWR of 7,500 lbs. Tow vehicle GVWR 7,500 x 40% = 3,000 lb trailer. That excludes mavericks (5200 lbs), rangers (6,050 lbs) and some F-150’s (starts at 6,010 and goes up to 7,850).

Using the exception in NH revised statute 266:30.2a, a Maverick could legally tow up to 2,080 lbs without brakes.
