Camping with Maverick Hybrid, which pulled travel trailer like a champ

Way too big for the Mav. I just moved it in the yard, to hook up to my big truck.

I dont think the camper is too big. Most of you on here all doubting Ford engineers and what the Mav is really capable of.... I say put some straps on the trailer hitch and hook it up to that white vehicle in the front of this photo. Our Mavs could pull all of that easy! . But in all seriousness, glad to know it pulled it well

We are in the same boat. Starting to look at travel trailers. Only thing I would be able to tow with the hybrid is a basic pop up camper... Maybe if the rumors are correct we will see an awd hybrid with 4k tow package soon.

My wife did find a small RV but the verdict is still out. It is a LIV 17 FD comes in at 1950 lbs

I had a hybrid ordered at the beginning, but people were worried my big pop-up camper(LoL) with all our gear a canoe and 4 people would be over the 2,000 pound limit. Plus living in Wisconsin I'm glad I got all wheel drive. Now there's talk of an all wheel drive hybrid might be time to upgrade. Come on 4,000 pound towing hybrid

There are a few trailers the hybrid can tow. I’ve looked at the Scamp, Safari Condo and Happier Campers. There are plenty of teardrop and others but I want something with a bathroom otherwise I’ll just use a tent

I was going to say the same thing. There aren't too many options for the Hybrid. I'm even limited with my F150. So many manufacturers say these things are half ton capable but in reality, unless you're using a WDH, they aren't. 5000lb on the hitch receiver and 500lb tongue weight.
I see so many people towing without a WDH and I cringe every time..

Sell you the plans, you can make it your own, it became usable in 2019, added solar to it last summer, will increase battery capacity this summer by 100%. Base camper is about $3000 in materials plus labor, solar generator adds another $3000, took two years to build in my back yard.

You can do this, I get tired of folks that have the skills but want everything handed to them. I've built two campers in the ten years since retirement, it's like building a cabin on wheels. Poor mans fiberglass is the saving grace in making a lightweight coach.

Add 7 pin connector, trailer brake controller, and a ScanGauge (or any scanner attached to your truck's computer) to monitor temperature of everything and the Hybrid is very well equipped to tow 3,000 pounds.

I've towed 3k over the steepest roads in North America. Never over-heated anything. Only came close once, and was solved by traveling just 10 mph under the speed limit (45 in a 55 zone).

It won't do maximum speed on hills, but will pass semi's and busses towing 3k.

You won't be the slowest driver on the roads.

lots of options with toilet and shower in the 2400 to 3000 lbs range. Don't overload it with belongings and take minimum fresh water and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

*I say this as a casual camper. 2-3 weeks a year. If you are camping fanatic, probably should get a bigger truck.

We just got a little 8x5 trailer that weighs about 1k lbs I'll tow with my hybrid. It's from New Wave (out of business but you can get them used).
