Can a trailer be powered through the 7-pin plug on the Mav hybrid?

If your trailer is appropriately wired, then the 12 V line from the truck should charge the house batteries in the trailer while driving down the road, however, I think you will find the juice is not worth the squeezing when it comes to running overnight, as it won’t transfer enough power to run an AC or any other heavy power draw.

Additionally, the idle fuel consumption is rather high, at nearly 1.5 gallons per eight hours.
Are you saying the engine will consume 1.5 gallons over 8 consecutive hours of idling? If that is the case, then with it only running twice an hour for a few minutes each time, according to the other guy’s observations, then that will be nothing. It would take a very long time for two small runs an hour to equal 8 hours of run time and consume 1.5 gallons of gas.

No, as in fill up, leave in ready mode for 8 hours, engine cycles on and off, fill up again, 1.5 gallons used. This was with AC OFF when I simply needed power to accessories. The power draw of the accessories was less than half of the 20 amps you could get through the 7-pin, and still the engine kicked on more frequently than every 40 minutes. Perhaps if you stop at a high state of charge the time to first kick on is longer, but it's more like every 10 minutes.

Not a quirk of the pump either, I've also verified it with reductions in fuel economy metrics.

Compared to the same behavior in my Prius when using AC overnight on hot nights, 0.5 gallons in the same period.

For comparison, a Buick LeSabre with the Series II 3.8L I owned would idle at 0.29 GPH, while not being a hybrid.

My theory on this, based on other observations, is that Ford is doing something quirky to heat the catalytic converter, and since it is cold every startup, it's burning extra fuel to heat the CC, which only reaches temp immediately before the engine cuts off.

You're probably right, I'll have to try it sometime. But in this instance I didn't want to disturb the other campers with the double honk
ForScan. I disabled that straight away because cars that honk on lock are the devil, and whoever thought that cars should honk when locked are crazy people deserving of straight jackets. 😃

Several other manufacturers have demonstrated that you can indeed have a muted little chirp if you want audible feedback, rather than using the YOU ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! horn.

Mine doesn't honk when you lock it, it only honks when you get out with the key while it's running

My 1600w inverter generator also burns about 1 gallon per 8 hours in eco mode, but it makes 1000% more noise than the Maverick. I don't really care about using a bit more fuel if I can power my trailer without the noise of a generator pissing everyone off.

The earlier Prius had 1.5 liter engines? Maybe it has to do with heating the cat as you say, because there's no other way it would make sense for the Maverick to be using 3x more fuel at idle

Still an abomination that I demand the engineer responsible convert to flagilism to atone for.

What about the hybrid fake engine noise?

Engine runs for EITHER / OR.

Either the battery gets low OR the temperature gets low.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to say what 8 hour "idle consumption" in a hybrid is.

It will be different every single time.

0.5 gallons in 8 hours is possible.
2 gallons in 8 hours is possible too.

I’m fine with appropriate noises for their corresponding actions. The horn is simply not mild enough for use as a “hey you left me on” warning tone, nor for simple locking.
