My wife and I bought an XL Hybrid Maverick for my wife in 2024. At the time, I owned a 2023 XLT EB AWD Maverick, and my son owned a 2023 XLT Hybrid Maverick. I sold my Maverick in early 2025, and our daughter talked us into letting her take over ownership of the 2024 XL Maverick.

My wife and I decided at the last minute to do the Midwest Maverick Meetup hosted by Long McArthur Ford. We exchanged our 2022 PHEV Escape for the 2024 XL Hybrid Maverick. After more than 3,250 miles and 50 hours of seat time, I concluded that Ford hit it out of the park with the Maverick.

I forgot just how good the hybrid version of the Maverick truly is. It still has some things I would do differently. Yet, I think Ford hit a home run with the Maverick.

The Bronco Sport never interested us because it lacks a hybrid option, limited interior room, and we don't care for its styling. We purchased a PHEV Escape in 2022.

I know Ford is doing its best to target us with deals to replace the PHEV Escape, but nothing offered today fits our needs as well as it does. Thus, we plan on keeping it until something better comes along.

The Maverick is good, but not a replacement for the PHEV Escape. The original post was an observation that the Maverick is better than I remembered, but it still doesn't meet our needs as well as the PHEV Escape does.

FWIW, 2 of my friends love their Badlands Bronco Sports. If you are going to have a Bronco Sport, the Badlands looks like the best version.

I like My 2025 AWD XLT 2.0 EB Maverick much better than the 2023 BS BB I had that had many issues and the 1.5 EB and transmission weren't any of the issues!! Sure the 2.0 EB in the Maverick runs stronger than the 1.5 EB but I had the JMS Pedal Max and it made a huge improvement on the 1.5 EB BS!!

The problem with the BS's is You have to get the Badlands to get the 2.0 EB and it's a big price difference over the BS BB or OB!! The MSRP on the 2023 BS BB I had with the 1.5 EB was $33,135.00 and My 2025 AWD XLT Maverick with the 2.0 EB was $33,510.00 IMO the BS's are over priced!!

My daughter's 1.5L Bronco Sport Free Wheeling is a blast to drive. I even got it tuned for her. 200 HP at the wheels.

I was a reluctant convert to the Maverick (from my 2010 Ranger). I had serious buyer's remorse driving away from the dealership. But it's converted me over the last 4 years and 40,000 trouble-free miles. It just works. It looks good. It's comfy. It hauls stuff inside and out. And it was only $30,500 OTD for an XLT LUX ECO AWD CP360 back in 2022. I still feel like I stole the thing.

I have to be honest though. The new Ford UEV truck has caught my attention in a big way.
