The three things that NOPED the SC for me were the front facia, the price, and the C pillars going down to the bed.

Honestly the way the C pillars meet the bed was the biggest styling mistake for me. It makes it look more like an SUV with a bed then an actual truck. Kinda like the Baja or any other SUV with a bed. I really like the way Ford engineers made the C pillars on the Mav straight down instead of arched.
It makes the Mav look more like a truck.

I’ve owned 3 different Hyundais since 2006. They’ve all been really dependable with nothing other than routine maintenance. Currently have a 21 Sonata Limited hybrid I’m very satisfied with that’s tech loaded and consistently getting over 50 mpg. Ordered a Maverick hybrid to replace my 12 year old F150. The hybrid was more important to me than the awd in the Santa Cruz. If the SC was now available as an awd hybrid I’d have ordered it without hesitation. Still prefer the looks of the Mav and hope to see mine eventually get built. Just suspect the SC will prove more durable in the long run

Strange..., I could swear I drove my SC to Lowes today. Maybe Home Depot is more low brow and that's where the Mavericks hang out?
Are the SC forums dead or do you just like hanging out with the superior truck owners?

As I mentioned yesterday, after seeing both of them i person, I have some lingering concern of Maverick's long term durability. SC seems to have build quality and better materials.

The biggest issue I have on SC is the usability of the bed. It is built with a small bed, so it Maverick. But the strange bundled retractable tonneau cover takes away a whole foot of the 4-foot bed length. That is 25%! Think about it, you have very limited space in the bed, which is not enough to even to hold two bicycles, what's your option naturally? Roof rack isn't the place to go because it is the way you are trying to avoid when you look for a vehicle with a bed. You need the bed to be openly available as convenient as possible thus the bed-top rack isn't either. You'll look for a trailer hitch to extend your space. If SC had took out the retractable tonneau cover and added a hitch to its "Activity Package" and thus lowed the price $800-1K, I would buy it now much more readily.

I think the base cruz is where the missed the most the 40K is nice but at that point id buy ranger. The base is not really worth it and the gas mileage for it 22 and 19... /27 on hwy. The bed to me is kinda awkaward. I do like the secert compartment it has be nice for a cooler. The all touch screen is worrying since if there's malfunction with it and stops working your kinda out of luck . At base the cruz is at 24.5k while you can get XLT at the same price with more features on the maverick

Both Maverick and Santa Cruz are all balanced out.

I had a 2019 Ranger but got rid of it in part due to the high tailgate. I hated that. I hated that I could barely reach in and grab something out of the bed from the side. I'm 5' 10" and couldn't reach anything in the middle of the bed.

I also didn't like the puny radio/back-up camera screen. I thought I'd be able to replace it (and even said so to the dealer), but to replace it would have cost $2000 in 2019. The price came down to $1000 by mid-2020. I also didn't like all the amenities that I couldn't get it without (lane assist, auto-stop, auto-bright/dim lights,...)

But I digress. My main point is I don't like the SC's high tailgate or pricey interior features. And the colors? Only earth tones? Really? Give me something not so boring.

I have the SC Limited, I've commented a few times on this forum that I really like the SC. Yet I am still awaiting the Maverick I have on order - I want to be able to do a side x side compare in my driveway and on my neighboring streets. I am 99% confident that I will like the SC Limited much more because of the FANTASTIC tech and creature features... I probably will keep both; regardless that I am single and no other drivers in the home or nearby. I think the SC will be a better Highway cruise and the Maverick, if my Hybrid comes in, will be the best for city driving.
I have a SC premium on the way. I was jerked around by the Ford dealer when my Maverick arrived. Life is too short for that. I am actually happy it happened now. It was the Hybrid that took me to the Maverick but I think the better choice is the Hyundai. We will see, I guess.
And they are building them in Alabama.

Good luck! Heads up the gas mileage is not really good - both my 2016 models: Audi Quattro Q5 2 L Turbo and Mazda CX 5 got better gas mileage... both averaged around town at 23-24 mpg. This 2.5 L w Turbo averages about 19 mpg around town driving that I mostly drive. Highway MPG when I nurse it, 27-28 mpg. I am sooooo looking forward to finally getting my Hybrid and one of the 1st Editions. Comparing the 1st edition to the SC Limited, won't be fair comparison, but I will make a decision after that.

I hope you have a good dealer. Gary Smith Ford was not. Too long a story but There is no way I could have taken the truck without thinking about their behavior. And I could never trust them with any future issues. I drive about 5 miles to work and do about 7 or 8k miles per year. So the mileage/gallon is not huge but I did like the hybrid. My wife drives a Tesla so I guess the two combined are environmentally equivalent at least. I hope the Maverick suits you.

I would take my AWD 4k tow mav and convert it into a santa cruz in a heartbeat if it didn't cost an extra $10k more lol.

Santa Cruz would have done well without the Maverick. Maverick wind fuel economy and price. So much right with the Maverick.
