Don't use direct water from a hose, it will damage all the electronics

Former auto detailer here. Washed a ton of other hybrids (mostly Toyotas). What I did was use the lowest water pressure setting (basically like the "mist" feature on a garden hose sprayer nozzle), get everything damp, spray some Optimum Power Clean, let it sit for maybe 2 minutes, scrub in the accessible areas with horse hair brushes, then rinse it off with the lowest water pressure setting. And spray overhead from the top down only.

The engine compartment isn't water-tight, so all the wiring has weatherpack connectors and the electronics are rated for water spray. Hell, when you drive in the rain, dirty water will spray all over the place, which is partly how the engine gets dirty to begin with.

I doubt that because then u could not drive in the rain even though there is a shield on the bottom but thanks for your opinion
I've driven in the rain in every car I've had. Until the Mav none had undershields of any size, maybe a wrap under bumper going under the radiator at most.

I've yet to see drop spotting up in the upper reaches where a lot of those electronics are at in most cars.

Dust - sure, which is an easy tell for water spots actually, that didn't show up. Even black surfaces, would be hard to hide there!

Why are you even asking since you are pretty self-assured about it - just do it!

I remember my first car was my dads hand me down 1987 camaro, just a few months prior repainted in an absolutely gorgeous red... i was so proud and loved it so much ... I washed the whole thing including the engine bay, nothing left untouched by soap or water.

She glistened in the sunlight, and later that day she looked just as beautiful on the back of the flatbed on the way to some shop so they could get it running again. 😅

Why do you need to clean the engine bay? The engine and transmission on this vehicle stay very clean with the shield underneath and the shutters in the front.

You are correct. I'm surprised by how clean the engine bay stays in the Maverick. That being said, I guess you could say I'm part OCD, and I like keeping my Maverick as much showroom clean as possible.

Mine is just over a year old, and every time I open the hood, it still looks brand new! Of course I have a garage to park in and use one of those aerosol dusters every so often. (I know, Anal and OCD.) 🤪

Mine is not a show truck. I’ll use light pressure and soap, then rinse, then drive it dry for at least an hour.
I’ll do this at 50,000 miles, no sooner.

I personally just use an air compressor but to each their own. I know people do it but I’m not a fan of spraying water all over the motor. You can take a clean rag with some degreaser and get it looking like newish. Just my opinion
