Go to your dealer and tell them your truck won't always start and you are getting tired of jump starting it and they will get you a new 12v battery.

Probably same make and model but you might be lucky and get a better one.
Did that advice actually work for you

what finally happened to the battery ability to start the car?
Are you on the original battery? do you have to jump it on ocassion?
I ended up installing a Weize H5 AGM battery. It barely fit in the under seat compartment, but I was able to make it work. I also used forscan to set my battery size to H5, my target SOC to 100%, and my battery type to AGM (although it was already set to AGM from the factory).

I have not had a single dead battery or deep sleep mode issue since making these modifications.

Did they do the install free of charge?
How is the new battery doing? It looks like a year later for you.
No, Ford wouldn't do anything for me. They supposedly tested the battery and told me it was good. When I asked why my truck kept going into deep sleep they had no answer, just said I could bring it in for further testing.

I bought the battery and installed it myself. Was going great until about a month ago and I started getting deep sleep messages again.

I did overnight charge it and change the state of charge in forscan to 95%. No deep sleep since after a few weeks.

My battery died completely multiple times after just 14 months. My Ford dealer found nothing wrong with the battery of course. After much thought, I diagnosed the problem as follows:
1. It’s a weak 12v to begin with at 390CCA, 45Ah and 65 RC. Ford now uses a slightly bigger battery (470 CCA).
2. As such, it doesn’t recharge quickly particularly if it’s only used sparingly.
3. Charge keeps draining cuz of telematics running 24/7.
I have removed interior fuse 11 as someone suggested and so far so good.
Do this for sure no matter what battery u have and ur problem should b solved. No need to waste money buying ur own new battery.
I take it ur truck is under warranty. I explained this to the Customer Service Mgr at the dealer that I didn’t feel confident with the smaller battery. I offered to meet them halfway and pay 50% for the upgraded battery. Ford ended up supplying and installing it for me gratis.
Good luck,
Mike, NS, Canada

Thank you for the specifics. Yes, I have warranty, 2023 hybrid 7 mts owned.

"Gratis": Doesn't the warranty include installing the battery without expense to owner, or did they do that as a friendly gesture since you bought a different battery?

Wonder if the more powerful battery was larger in size and still yet fit into compartment.
Fuse 11: Telematics, after removal what items are then disabled?

Thank you for the info. follow up. You stated it "made it fit". Were you able to just turn the battery
at different angles bit by bit to let in go into compartment or remove a whole bunch of platic or cuts?

I didn’t have to make any cuts. I just had to wrestle with it for a good amount of time before I got all the wires crammed inside in such a way that the plastics would all go back together.

Ur Qs:
Ford won’t automatically replace a warranteed item if they don’t find anything wrong with it. Even after telling them it died on me three times and it was no fault of anything I did. Funn tho, Ford must’ve suspected it was a problem cuz mid-way thru ‘23 they upgraded the battery as said (390 to 470 CCA) so yes it does fit. It’s a Ford Mastercrap battery but it’s about 20% stronger anyway for more piece of mind. Yes, Ford did it as a customer satisfaction issue.
I wondered about all the effects of pulling fuse 11 too but another blogger said it doesn’t effect anything else. I decided to try it and if I found something else effected that I didn’t like, I was simply going to put the fuse back in. So far, it has been a wk and no problems whatsoever. U can’t use the app of course to communicate with the truck but there isn’t anything critical ur missing there. Since when do we need an app for our vehicle anyway?? One good thing about disabling the telematics is that it also keeps u and ur info private. Ford doesn’t learn of ur driving habits, maintenance info, location, whatever. I like that. One suggestion is to put in fuse 11 every month or so to see if there’s any software updates. That’s about it.
Good luck,
Mike

That's a potential decent size difference - 99R/T4 to H5.

The cellular modem on ATT network. Maybe the GPS radio receiver - I need to test that one.
Truck will report no stats for the Ford app to show you.
You can't remote start or lock/unlock the truck using the Ford app.

Be interesting to know if some of the truck systems still wake up to use the cell network, sit there trying for a bit, then give up and go back to sleep. Just to try again later.
But for some (I'm betting those in bad ATT cell network), it makes a big difference in overnight battery usage.

And actually the WiFi network is used for those software updates - so just turn that on and connect for radio software updates.

Unless the WiFi radio is on same fuse circuit as the cell modem.

Don't want to be a pain with questions.
Thanks for reply you gave.
You said "after pulling fuse "you found something else effected that didn't like". What was that?
You said you "was going to put the fuse back". did you?
So take out fuse and you lose Ford App. I don't care about that.
Do you think the more powerful battery solved issues for you or keeping fuse out?

No negative effects of pulling fuse 11. I said “if there were any negative effects…”.
I have kept the fuse out.
Fuse out alone should solve the battery drain problem. My truck was fine for a wk without the fuse and with the small 390 CCA battery. I took the bigger battery Ford offered me for peace of mind and it was free. I’m not taking any chances tho. I’m leaving the fuse out.
Cheers

I saw the weize battery at ebay.

Thank you.
I did see this battery on ebay: Weize Platinum AGM Battery BCI Group 47-12v 60ah H5 Size 47 Automotive Batter... for $132, with free shipping.

And another company sold exact battery from description on ebay for $275. Don't know how to reconcile that battery prices.

I say on my current battery 390A on the label.

Do you think the battery above is the battery you brought? I saw h4 on stock battery and h5 on weize battery. Does that refer to physical size?

I say what looked liked a vent hole on side of battery.
Did you take your vent tube from old battery and put in the new battery or does new battery come with tube?
