Wouldn't the fumes from the gas tank make putting the remote inside the fuel door a bad idea?
No, some have placed them there already. Not sure if its the Lariat or the hybrid, but some have to hit a release button inside the truck to release the fuel door so you cannot place the keypad there as you would have to unlock the doors to get inside the truck to release the fuel door to unlock the doors with the keypad.

I've got the XL and the door is always openable. Automakers greatly reduced their use of 'locking' gas tank doors because crooks were just drilling a hole in the gas tank and catching the gas below the car in a bucket.

But I like the idea of keeping the keypad out of the wind, and sight because it's not pretty. Would be great to have when going running or swimming. Need to find out if my dealer honors the low cost installation for their 5 minutes of programming.

Okay, must be a Lariat thing then and not a hybrid thing. My Lariat has a push button next to the headlight control that you have to push and then wait a second for it to unlock before you can open the fuel door. It lock again as soon as you close it.

Just a FYI on the $24 installation charge. I talked to three dealers in my area and asked them to confirm the install charge if purchased on the Ford accessories site. All three said they would not honor that price as it only applies to participating dealers. Two dealers said they would charge their full hourly rate ($260-$275) even though it takes less than 15 minutes. The third said they would charge a flat rate of $150. I’m not saying this is the case everywhere, but I would suggest you contact your dealer to confirm their price before ordering the keypad.
When you go through the purchase process on the Ford accessories site and select the install, the checkout process will show you what dealers are approved for the $24 charge. There were only one or two out of the 10+ dealers around me that were part of the program.

Your timing is great. Rather than calling dealers around me, I called Ford Accessories yesterday to find out which dealers participate and they told me what you just explained. And like you also said, there was only one dealer within 100 miles who was listed. I called that dealer who is 45 miles away and they said not only would they honor the price but they would send their mobile unit to my home for the install so that is set up. And Ford Accessories is offering 15% off all items under $1000 right now. Thank you for posting your reply.

Can you give me the number you called? I need to get someone to do mine (accessories site went up now from like 24 w/e it was to like 56 bucks) but local dealer quoted me $84 to install it and i said i would pass. It's only 10-15 minutes of work too which is insane that they want almost $100 for install

The Ford Accessories number will not tell you which dealers participate in your area. They will only explain how to find them on their website. Their number is 844-589-0060. Go to https://accessories.ford.com. Search for "keypad." The two options will display. Select the one you want and be sure to also select the "Include Install" option and add to cart. Go to your cart and enter your city or zip code and select enter. Scroll down under the map and you will see a drop down list with the participating dealers in your area. Select the one you want and continue with the order. The keypad will be shipped to the dealer, not your home. Before doing that, you should call the dealer to confirm they honor those prices and ask if they also offer mobile service to your home. When the part comes in, the dealer will call you to schedule the install at your home or their dealership. Good luck.

Thanks for posting this info. I ordered a keypad and paid for installation in advance. :)

Battery is good for 5 years and is not user replaceable. Some have pried them open and replaced the battery, others have broken them doing this.
I have a 23 that was purchased with the keypad from the factory. Is that battery operated also or was it wired for current? thank you

AI Overview
For the 2023 Ford Maverick, the keypad option was a factory-installed, hardwired, illuminated SecuriCode keypad on the driver's door pillar for XLT and Lariat trims, allowing keyless entry and locking by entering a code, with the original code remaining active even after setting a new personal one, a feature later changed to a battery-powered stick-on version for 2024+ models.

Looks different too.

Thank you for info.

So you taught me that the 26 maverick even though ordered during a build process will turn over the keypad install be done at the dealer. (guess not cost effective for factory to do it) is now done at the dealership. which mean not wired pad.

I wonder will it still be illuminated?

The keypad does illuminate after pressing a button and goes out shortly after the last button is pressed.

Disappointed to lose the feature on my 23 XLT when trading for a 26 Lariat so for my long runs and parking at dark-thirty I’m just sticking the key in a faraday bag and stashing it ……

Thanks for info. Was looking to see if these were battery powered for 25+ years. Looks like they are. I've had the SecuriCode system on every ford and lincoln i've owned. Our escape Titanium had a hepatic/touch version built into the door frame- very sleek and nice. As with other disapointments on a $40K Maverick Lariat... this is one of them. I love my (3rd) Maverick but man, Ford just doesn't know when to stop tinkering with a good thing to save a penny or two.
