I don't like it, but I have gotten in the habit of getting in my vehicle, clicking the seat belt, turning off the auto start stop, and if I'm going to stay in town I switch it to Eco mode to try to save a little fuel. But I'm not a fan of the auto start stop.

First thing I turned off with Forscan.

Don't miss it.

I've always wondered does it save that much gas in regular driving conditions like just normal stop light in a smaller town? I'm sure it helps in heavy city traffic obviously. I also wonder if all the constant restarting bad for the battery, starter, spark plugs etc? I feel like when I get my truck I'll probably turn it off most days. Do you guys use the auto start stop or do you turn yours off?
I never use it - the amount of fuel savings would probably be offset by the eventual need to place associated parts. I found it annoying. Also - this is based on past events where I got rear ended 2 or 3 times - I always look in my rear view mirror when coming to a stop - I've had incidents in the last 10 years where I see someone not paying attention and bearing down on me and I was able to accelerate from the stop sign/red light to evade getting hit. If I had to wait even a couple seconds for some stop/start to fire up I'm pretty sure I would have gotten run into again.

My auto start stop only comes on when I turn it on, which is when I'm facing a long wait at a stop light and choose to relax my right foot off the brake. When we start moving, I turn it off and it stays off until the next long red light, sometimes days later.

For me it would depend on how they implemented it. I drove a rental jeep with this feature and taking off was not a seamless experience.
I'm not afraid of anything new. Just new and silly and counterproductive. I embrace the better stuff and reject the gimmicks that are a step down.

You said everyone so......
Never have driven a vehicle with auto stop/start.
Many auto mechanics say it causes increased wear and tear on engine components. Therefore I feel it is 1 step forward 2 steps back.
I dislike it.

Don't have it on my Hybrid. Probably wouldn't like it though if I did.

Love it. Have over 63,000 on my Escape and have had it on all the time, though it seems to work when it feels like it. Does often come back on in the summer when air is on and waiting on a long light.

Gas engine runs ALL the time on your hybrid?
Turns off during the coast down - don't even have to come to stop first, saves even more fuel!

Oh no - now I'm thinking of the people that take it upon themselves to turn off car at lights and manually start it to save fuel.
What if they start thinking about the coast down as more savings..
Those first few brakes into line of cars could be interesting.

Turn it off each time . not a fan . battery drain , extra engine wear , turbo wear and starter wear . not enough gas savings to make up for the extra wear and tear on expensive components in the long run imo . But I only have 8700 miles after 2 3/4 years .

That shi* is a safety hazard. Had to gun it a couple times to turn left somewhere and had no idea the truck was turned-off, almost got in a wreck because of the delay.

Thank the Russian God for Forscan to disable that crap.
