It looks better to me than a Honda. The newer ones are better but the older ones looked like the front end of an suv.
The Honda is basically an SUV.

A fiberglass drop center hood would be great for off roading in the tremor would be nice . They have them for my 87-96 broncos , makes a big difference . Maybe I’ll reach out to Autofab !
The thinness of the metal and lack of inner skeletal structure probably warrants the extra styling creases(raised area) as the hood still distorts under air pressure from dryers at the car wash.

Well, the hood size seems pretty necessary or it wouldn't cover the hole between the fenders and out to the grill  . I certainly get it about the stopping way too short because of the long hood illusion. I think the hood being essentially in the same plane as the flat top dash helps create that feeling. Personally I like the view, aside from the nasty reflections from the hood when the sun sits low on top of the east-west roads this time of year. I am short as well, so I have my seat cranked up to a more chair like position and the top of my head a very few inches from the ceiling, although the sunroof may have something to do with that. The mirror, is not an issue if pushed up to the max and then tilt the glass. I don't understand that complaint. I do that to all my vehicles, partly because I am blind in my right eye, making me very aware of sight lines. YMMV

I did a measurement of the three vehicles I have on hand and measured from the base of the windshield at the level of the hood to the front edge of the hood following whatever contour the hood has: 1997 Ford Ranger=48", 2011 Subaru Forester=46 " and the Maverick comes in at 43"? I have a Buick Reatta at home but the hood is vastly longer. Maybe you need corner rods with lights on top to see where the corners are like on some large truck, ie, Semi's

It only takes up about 10% max of my view out of the windshield. Not too bad. There are far worse.
Definitely a lot worse. My first car was a 79 Thunderbird. I'm from Pittsburgh originally and there are plenty of hills there that when you go up.. all you saw was hood and sky. The Maverick isn't bad at all.

Ha, I agree with the thoughts on not accurately judging the space in front of the Mav when parking . I leave the truck and sigh at not pulling up far enough.

that's my truck and it's extremely easy to dent most aluminum hoods, this is a not another "Maverick is cheap" data point, necessarily. when I see pics of someone sitting on any hood, I cringe every time.

this was probably a forearm and they guy put a lot of weight on it, but still, I'm not kidding. do not lean on that hood to clean your windshield, wash the truck, apply wax, etc.

if you dent it on one of those contoured ridges, it can't be fixed with paintless dent repair.
I have a 2019 F150 which has an all aluminum body. Didn’t even mean to insinuate this was from cheap construction. And, this is a problem on other new vehicles, even the steel ones, because of the thin gauge of metal used. My original point about creases used for strength on a flat panel is not new or just for automotive use, look at your neighbors metal roof, been done for ever.

Thats a feature not a bug 😆! Forcing you to leave extra buffer zone so the guy in front doest ding you.

I drove a '78 Thunderbird for awhile back in the 80's. That's a long hood.

I used to cruise in a buddy's 77 Lincoln Mark. We often ran around loaded up so the hood was always nose up!

Those big Mark III/IV Lincolns had to have one of the longest hoods ever!
69-74 Grand Prix Pontiacs had a long hood too.

My previous vehicle was a Chevy Astro which feels like it has no front end at all when you are driving it, so the maverick hood size was quite an adjustment for me. I still find myself second guessing my park jobs and thinking I'm way further in than I am.

I had a couple 1970's, and they were even longer. A Full 1 foot Beak in front of the hood!
