I think all vehicles should come with a hood piston rod instead of a prop rod.
Obviously the manufacturer is just trying to save a few bucks.

Was any drilling needed to install the Redline Tuning Gas Hood Shocks?
No drilling required easy installation on my 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid using Redline Tuning and OEM hardware 👍

Thanks. I'm ordering a set.

I know there is a piston rod helper for the tailgate but I don't see the need for that. I guess everyone has different priorities.

The prop rod also saves a little bit of weight over the old-style hinges.

I'd take an underhood light over struts any day. Those were standard for decades.

Have you installed a hood light I’d like to find something nice that isn’t a “push on / push off” stick on battery LED?

What In The World ?
You guy's are joking right ?

I'm 5'11" and the stock rod easily holds the super light hood out of my way just fine.
Yep!, I am 6" and I get under there fine. If I ever need more room, I am sure I have a 2x2 laying around here somewhere I can cut and adjust, or I can remove 4 bolts and take the hood off the truck. LOL

I read this complete post and I usually have to log on to Facebook to see some of the goofy stuff posted on here. With that said, let me assure you I don't have a problem with the hood support. What I have a problem with is that Goose Neck 23' car hauler I have had for several years. If I get within about 6" of it, I get a new knot on my noggin, and it's not because I don't know where it is above my head. I think I will add a hook for my hard hat and hang it within easy access. I am tired of everyone calling me "Knot Head".

You either mean you are 6' - or you are wildly oversharing.

No. This is the first vehicle I've bought since 2001. It bugs me that neither an underhood light nor a glovebox light is included. I suppose that's standard throughout the industry now, though.

Legs are long. When you sit at a table with a bunch of adults - you’ll note their heads are all pretty much at the same level.
Only when everyone stands up do you notice the height difference.
there is significant variance.

I have a 6'4" torso (and wear the exact dress size as my 6'4" brother), and 6' legs. It comes out to 6'2"

But it does mean that I can comfortably drive my '06 Miata with he top down.

Well, around town. I learned on the first out of town trip that I absolutely need a pillow for my left thighs, which floats a bit above the sea with my foot on the firewall . . .

Obviously the manufacturer is just trying to save a few bucks.
more likely a couple of pounds. They add up . . .

I'd rather bump my head on the corner of the hood. 🤣🤣🤣
I have the hood for a '72 Eldorado having above it in my old house's garage (both hinges are damaged and need rebuild/fortification).

I've hit my head on it more than a few times.

I'd take my wife holding it up before another smack on the noggin as I pass that massive beast--but I think it weights more than she does!

Early on, as I went through the significant effort to open it (at 6'2" and 200), it occurred to me that women were commonly driving by the time it was built, and wondered how they heaved up a hood that weighed significantly more than they did (I had to put my body into it at my size)>

then I remembered: "self serve" gas wasn't a thing yet when it was built!

[side note: when Cadillac introduced the self starter in 1914, one of their advertising campaigns was "Finally! a car a woman can drive!" ]

Totally agree that’s why I installed the Redline Tuning Gas Hood Shocks - the hood opens a few more inches and eliminates the need for the prop rod. Very good quality and a smooth hood lift assist.
