I generally enjoy the winter months, but I'll be the first to admit, there is a point where refreshing becomes annoying.....and we were there over the weekend! 🐧

I cant see a heating element under the glass so not sure how this magic works when it decides it does want to work
It's the line running through the Soundscreen logo. I thought it may have been a crack in my windshield when I first saw it.

Nice - Will have to mess with this again before taking into the dealer. Heated mirrors come on all the time. Does it need to be below freezing before this heat strip kicks into action ?

I can't find evidence that it IS temperature dependent, but that doesn't mean it isn't. The repair guide says basically "push button, check for voltage" without any temperature requirement in the shop. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Apparently the Escape was the first to have this feature . If you look at the related videos it states there is a heating element in the glass.

Can't find documentation it is temperature dependent but appears it is.

I just pressed the button on a 55 degree day. LED lamp went off after ~2 minutes. Pretty sure it stayed on the whole 30 minute drive at 39 deg.

The mirrors were a few degrees over 100°F in 2 minutes, much warmer than body temp but not hot enough to burn you. Space under the wipers remained at ambient, but I could see the fine wire pictured above.

Anyone else find it weird the wipers have a heating defroster but the rear window doesn't?

No heat under the wipers on a 55 degree day. Window glass felt like 55 to me while at the same time mirrors were 100+.

Even at 39 - I felt no windshield heat but the mirrors were toasty -
