Heated Wiper Park- Ice/Cold Non-functioning- Lariat/Lux

Heated mirrors nice and toasty- Area underneath wipers ice cold- Had vehicle running for ten minutes @ 39 Degrees-

Unless I am missing something like this feature auto/detects ice/snow and must be below 32- This feature is not working correctly at the moment.

Anyone able to touch the windshield below the wipers and feel a heating element (not defrost ) ?

Recently driving after an overnight cold snap where rain turned into snow and freezing temps overnight - no ice cakes on wipers as I wiped off road salt splashes as I drove along. Wiper performance seemed good for -4F temp - must be heat in there somewhere? Didn’t see any heating pad where wipers sit on the glass so perhaps these disappeared before manufacture like the heated rear window? Wiring diagram does show they exist.

Heated wiper park is wired in with the heated mirrors on the same button. Since your heated mirrors were on, the wiper park should've been as well.

Not sure how hot it actually gets, as it's just supposed to be hot enough to melt snow/ice. Was there any on/under your wiper blades that wasn't melting?

Liked I said - Mirrors hot - Icon illuminated - Wipers cold as the North pole.

I could not feel my wiper park area getting warm earlier this year after I had my windshield replaced and wondered if Safelite messed something up.

Looks like it works though. Here's a picture from a few weeks ago. Hasn't been tested with thick ice though.

A quick google search says this - What are heated wipers? - The way heated wiper blades work is through a temperature sensor. If the temperature drops to freezing or lower, the blades heating elements will automatically turn on and help melt the ice off your windshield as they move back and forth.

Additionally, I am not sure, but reading your original statement you say its 39 degrees which is not lower than 32....

Additional information I found is that that Ford lists this as Windshield Wiper DeIcer. This also could be a heating element at the bottom of the windshield.

This truck does not have heated wiper blades. It only has heated windshield glass at the bottom where wipers "park".

It is not designed to get hot or warmer than body temperature. It's only supposed to get warm enough to melt frost/ice.

In the troubleshooting guide I found no evidence of it being temperature dependent. The guide just says to push the switch and check for voltage and ohms of resistance.

I have not actually felt mine, but it works fantastic. Even the bomb cyclone Friday/Saturday it kept the wipers (mostly) clean enough to work properly.

I'll try to remember to feel it next start.

Just confirmed, it is warm to the touch. I did a remote start about 10:30 this morning, it was 15 degrees, and I went out to the vehicle after about 7-8 minutes, and the wiper park area was noticeably warm to touch. Certainly not hot, but warm enough to be obvious.
