You would think it's pretty straight forward to download a new software to the vehicle right? Unless they are inputting wrong information about the vehicle, I don't see how they could mess this up
Being in the software industry for 40 years, nothing is that simple. I know modern cars have at least 4 separate computer systems not including entertainment. Not giving anyone a free pass but saying that any update that has to support all the different configurations and all the systems would be a daunting task. Safety should ALWAYS be top priority. We are on the forefront of a new and efficient form of transportation.
I will say again: I am not ready for a self driving car but I love my hybrid.

My Maverick is my wifes daily driver. She loves her trucklet and it's been very good to her so far. If she has these types of problems after a simple software update, that truck is gone.
I'm going to make sure tonight, that the automatic updates function is off and I decide what updates are applied.

The Maverick can't do over-the-air updates to anything but the radio.

I have all the updates on my Maverick and have not experience any issues at all. I'm kind of thinking the service tech may have not followed the protocol on performing the software upgrade, something happened during the upload process (not the service tech fault) of the software upgrade or there were some hardware issues on the Maverick. If the updates were a problem, I'm pretty sure there would be a ton complaints being posted about the software updates.

As a retired weekend warrior wanna be system engineer the above statements is my best guess and please don't flame me.....I just want some warm weather here in MI and I'm bored now.

Mine is not a hybrid, but, I had the taillight recall done in my driveway by the mobile tech from my dealer without any issues. I found a notice in the service manual about doing ANY module updates which states that "load shedding" AKA the battery management system may interfere with the successful application of the update.

FWIW I put my Maverick on a smart battery charger/maintainer a few hours before the tech showed up to do the update and he was surprised I was aware of the notice, but was glad I took the time to plug the Mav in and make things easier for him. He did connect the Mav's battery to his service vehicle anyway to ensure there was no chance of the BMS going into load shedding mode.

From page 6849 of the service manual:

Electrical Energy Management System

NOTICE: When any vehicle module is being programmed, connect an external battery charger to make sure the module programming is completed without interruption due to the load shedding feature becoming active. The external battery charger must maintain a system voltage above 13 volts. This may require a charger setting higher than the lowest charge setting. The external battery charger negative connection must be made to an engine or vehicle chassis ground and not the negative battery terminal. If the connection is to the negative battery terminal, load shedding may begin and module programming may be corrupted. After charging has begun, start the engine to clear any load shed states and then turn the engine off and proceed with programming.

Again mines NOT a hybrid, and I don't know for sure if it may be related to the difficulties some owners are experiencing, but I would think the same precautions would apply to all Ford vehicles with the BMS.
This.... is an amazing piece of information.

I'm positive some dealerships are not doing this step.

I can confirm that my technician did have my truck connected to an external battery charger.

I cancelled my recall appointment. Maybe I am being reactionary but I have over 33k mileage with zero issues. I done none of the earlier recalls. The issues some other hybrid owners are having after this software patch need to ironed out before I venture to do it..
I have more than one mavericks. One a 22 first edition hybrid. I have had all recalls done as soon as they could be done. Never had a problem did have no dome light 3-4 times, always started with no deep sleep notices. After air bag recall headliner was not covered by door weatherstrip so dealer did warranty replacement of headliner. I have 27+ miles on it after 25 months. After reprogram recalls it seemed to get 1.5-3 mpg better but after them I see 41+ mpg on tanks with 11.5-12.2 gallon fill ups. When I had recalls done remotely from dealership the tech did use remote power supply as it is required that voltage seen by BMS remain above 13V during update to prevent load shedding during update which can mess up success of update (according to posts on this site).

I got the update, then it went haywire, after four weeks I got a new update, and now lane centering is not working in cruise control.
The switch on the end of the turn signal lever may have gotten toggled to the off position.

This issue happened to me yesterday. Highway speeds, cruising at 80, no acceleration and had to pull off to the side of the road, a total of 4 times. Each time I sat on the side of the road, shut off the car and waited 5 mins. The first time happend 2 hours into my trip, 30 mins away from my destination. The other 3 on the return trip.
I did bring my code reader and captured the same 2 codes each time, U1011 and U1028.

I did have the recalls done the last week of Feb. The technician came to my house, connected my battery to his generator before flashing. He did everything right.

I have made this same trip and others multiple times, this was the first long one after the recalls.

I scheduled an appointment on Monday when the first incident occured. By the time I get it there, I am sure the codes and the CEL will be gone.
I just had my truck ('23 XL) throw those codes 2 blocks from my house. Drove it to the dealer when they opened without any problems. From what I've been able to find out, there is a communication problem between different modules in the truck.
