Is the Mav getting a bad reputation for all the elec and fire related recalls and problems?

I wouldn't be so miffed if it didnt mean I would have to return to the hells cape that is my local ford dealership! I honestly love alot of the cars Ford makes but almost every dealership in my area is full of dirt bag sales men and service people who never make an effort to follow up.
Been there experienced that! Use text for all communication! If the salesman assigned you does not respond send a text to the dealers main number and ask if they've been replaced then they get back to you really fast!

Well my new hellscapse is getting recall servicing done. The kind of lack of regard to help me out is insane.

"well call you when the parts come in"
It's been 7 months. Not a call and the same response every time I call in.

yah what an awesome dealership - mine said you only qualify for 2 days of loaner based on the recalls you have and we will be keeping it for longer than that.

Much ado about nothing. All cars have problems. There's been nothing that would scare me away.

Keep in mind that they expect maybe 1% of the hybrid vehicles to possibly be affected by the catastrophic failure issue, and that there would be a noticeable change in sound before it actually occurs. - We'd hear a hellish rod knock, metal to metal clanking, and similar noises. If it starts, pull over, turn it off, and exit the vehicle as a precaution. - Then call for a tow.

If you stop before the failure punches a hole through the pan or block, there shouldn't be any reason for it to errupt in flames. It's only should liquid & vapors exit the engine, that the fire risk exists.

I've seen 2 reports of Maverick fire online, both are ecoboost model. Make your own judgement.

Focusing on the OP's question - it's far too simplistically phrased. "Bad reputation with who" is more aptly phrased. There are rating agencies. There are journalists. There are "middle America mom and pop and Sally" who never read an auto review in their life. There are car guys and car gals who read reviews daily. There are folks whose only information about the Maverick comes from their neighbors, friends and family. So there are dozens of answers to the question. Depends on who you're talking about.

I think a far more interesting question would be "Ford was crowing about the abbreviated Maverick development program (they cut a full year out of the traditional development process). Has Ford learned anything from multiple botched releases of new models in recent years?". And I think only the Ford insiders could answer that. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at Ford corporate.

That number is irrelevant. What matters is the percentage of at risk engines across the total produced.

If 125k hybrids (both Escapes and Mavericks) are effected by the recall, and a total of roughly 316k for the Escapes and Mavericks were produced, that means that 40% of the total vehicles produced are effected. If you have just the hybrid numbers for production that percentage will increase drastically because it's safe to assume that hybrids only accounted for probably less than 1/3rd the total production numbers.

I did see that in q3 for 2022 the Escape Hybrids only produced 7500... so an estimation of 7500x4 (for each quarter) is 30k. 30k total Hybrid Escapes in a year and we are now in 2023, so another 15k for half this year. 45k total Escape Hybrids since 2022. My estimation of 1/3rd checks out there so let's do the Mavericks next.

75,000 total Mavericks produced with an estimated 1/3rd of that to be Hybrids = 25k. Account for the same level of production but only half the year so far in 2023 = 12,500. So far since 2022 that means 37,500k total.

That estimation equals 82,500 for the Maverick and Escape Hybrids total, and it's probably more than were actually produced. I'm being generous and giving them 1/3rd.

82,500 out of the estimated 125k effected by the recall is 66%.

66% of vehicles FORD produced have a high risk of grenading themselves and catching fire.

Feel free to check my math. If anyone can provide actual Hybrid numbers, I'd love to crunch them.

I'd say the bad reputation is well earned for 66% and yes, it's becoming more common that people are hearing about it for that reason.
The Affected number can be the date range a possible problem could of occurred and probably has no direct relationship to the actual number.
