Sounds like Toyota is looking at '24 or '25 my for a small truck to compete with Maverick. If they can keep the entry price even close, they will be a strong contender. Ford needs to improve their marketing and delivery abilities and not rest on what they have done so far. They need to look at what Maverick buyers want for the future. This forum should give them plenty of ideas what the customer of the future wants.

I hate to say it, but Toyota builds at least "Ford Tough"!

Remember when the Explorer came out? Ford caught everyone with their pants down. How about the Model T, 64 Mustang, 32 Ford and now the Maverick. Too bad these circumstances are keeping them from killing the market and allowing the others to catch up.

Just my thoughts.

I can't believe it took the auto makers this long to realize we all don't need a full size or mid sized truck.

HEY AUTOMAKERS ....... want to know what people want? TRY ASKING THEM! Do a frickin' survey or something. I'm sure if the automakers asked people if they wanted a small pickup truck like the Old Ranger or Chevy S-10, the answer would have been a resounding YES!!!. I've been telling co-workers for years: "Gee, I wish they made a small pickup like the Ranger again ...... I'd buy one. And I'm not even a "pick up guy". Seems especially the U.S. automakers. Know what else Americans actually want? A MIDSIZE STATION WAGON!! In Europe they call them Estates. You can get a Focus and a Fusion station wagon in Europe. I had a Dodge magnum but it was a money pit with the crappy Mercedes suspension parts I had to keep replacing. Oh well, looked cool though.

This might be cool, but if I had to guess, an offering by Toyota would likely be 1. More expensive than a Mav, and 2. Super boring.

My prediction: some sort of RAV4 truck-like thing with a 4-foot bed, standard 201-bhp 4-banger making an unremarkable 25mpg mixed and starting at 26k. It will be competing against the Santa Cruz more than the Maverick.

They could also surprise me and undercut the Mav by reviving a Ute-ified version of the Scion xB!…

I don’t think I’ll be trading my Maverick in.

Talked to my Toyota Dealer about a Tacoma I have family that works there and was told either in late 23 or 24 the Tacoma will be offered in a hybrid that'll be my next truck after my Maverick.😎
