Weird, for some reason I thought that I was going to be looking at the bad fit of a Maverick hood.
I thought the same thing based on the title then I wondered who installed the protector incorrectly. Dude could have done some install research as theres tons online. I watched youtube vids and found that using painters tape helped. Lol blaming Ford for his incompetence.

Do you have a copy you can post of the instructions you did get?
Didn’t come with any.
So you install it incorrectly (off centre) and then want to blame/complain to Ford. Good luck with that. I have the same Hood Protector and it fits just fine.
I’m sure you can see paint on both sides of it. They could have just as easily made it longer.

What do you guys think about this. I bought this on the ford site and look at how it fits on the Maverick.
Supposed to be made for it. Do you think if I complain to ford they would do anything?
Just needs to be a little longer. Fits perfectly except the length.
Maybe I’m just picky??

Dude. That is way within tolerance. You mounted it a lil askew. Go smoke a fat joint. Nobody but you will know ….

Mine looks similar but maybe not to that extreme it’s a difficult install with the adhesive fully exposed I can live with it since I installed it you could pry up the long end slide something under it to protect the paint and use a dremel tool to trim it if it bothers you or buy another one and be more careful and just start removing the film on the tape as you move across the hood 🤷🏼‍♂️

You did not center it.

Always DRY FIT before applying the adhesive.

Typical mistake made.
Starting a one side working to the other.
Instead of centering the middle and working towards the ends.
The same thing with should be done with wheel fairings. Start at the top first., working towards one end at a time.

Soapy water (as in a very small amount of plain liquid hand soap in a good amount of water) will prevent the adhesive from immediately grabbing and give you a few tens of seconds to get comfortable with the placement... without affecting the adhesion after it dries. Just don't use any solvents by mistake or you will have trouble with the adhesion afterward!

Maybe I'm tired and hungry - but I just pictured someone trying to be ready for those tenths of a second correction time, but missing how easy it slides with soapy water - and ending up with almost diagonal stripe up the hood.

😂

Didn’t get that instruction set with it, but I set it on before taking the tape off and could see that it wasn’t a perfect fit.
the problem was that once I removed the tape seal and set it near the edge it didn’t want to move. Stuck down like glue and I was afraid to pry it back up. I guess I could try that.
it just seems like it would be nice if it was a little longer and covered the hood all the way.
That’s why you should test fit accessories before permanently installing them. It’s designed to have a slight relief on each end.

That's an application problem. I put the exact same one on my Maverick. Clean the hood and decrease with isopropyl alcohol. Positioned it on the hood and outlined with blue painters tape. Then apply the adhesive promoter. I cut the red tape in the middle, top and bottom, then pulled out little pigtails at the center and ends. Placed it back on the hood ensuring its position is correct and centered. Used blue painters tape to hold it in position. Then slowly peel the red tape from the center out while ensuring it didn't move. Then remove all the blue tape. The thing looks perfect!

Next time, BEFORE removing tape covering, position the piece where you want it. See post 20, using a small piece of painters tape to hold it in place. (see dotted line post #20). CAREFULLY cut tape between hood & guard, leaving a piece on hood & a piece on guard. Start to remove 2 sided tape coverings on guard. CAREFULLY line up the two pieces of painters tape while holding guard off hood. CAREFULLY ease guard in place aligning the painters tape pieces & lower on hood.
*** even with this you can miss align, but it works pretty well for me.

As for the thread title - my hood on drivers side was "noticeably" lower than the fender on drivers side. Very annoying from drivers position. Found a threaded rubber bumper on each side of hood. A couple of twists of that and it lined up pretty good.
